XatuStare.gif

On the 6th of June, 2006, an unusual .gif was uploaded onto a popular site on the internet. This site has since shut down and is no longer operating, due to this particular gif. Many fans of Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal or Heartgold/Soulsilver may remember 2 rather creepy species of Pokémon known as 'Natu' and 'Xatu'.

Anyways, this gif uploaded contained both Pokémon and a beta image of 'Lyra', the female starter. (This was artwork for Lyra, who was planned to make her debut in Heartgold and Soulsilver, which was released 3 years later in Japan.)The gif contained images of multiple Natu and Xatu staring straight ahead. It was interesting to note that Lyra also had eyes simmilar to the Pokémon.

When the viewer clicked on the gif, the eyes of the Pokémon and Lyra would rapidly flash and pulsate. Many viewers suffered from minor seizures from the flashing eyes. Whilst the victims slept later that night, they recalled on having visions of Satan torturing them (Hence the upload date.) Many complaints were filed about the seizures and the site was shut down a few days later, on the 9th of June.

One particular viewer downloaded the file and revealed that 2 of the numerous images contained a picture of Satan in the pupils of the large Xatu's eyes. The picture shown is the only remaining image of the gif. The rest were destroyed.
