What did I play?

Two years ago, a friend of mine moved away - I'd helped her pack up. We went through all of her old things, and she'd let me have anything she didn't want anymore.

"I'll see what's left." I told her. I went to her closet and pulled out a shoe box. After setting it down next to her, she simply said:

"You can have that."

I opened it up and to my surprise, there were some games in it. "What's this?" I asked her.

She didn't really play games much, so it was odd that she owned this many.

She didn't say much, other than she didn't recognize many of the games. I figured that her parents got them for her and my friend never got round to playing them. I decided that I'd play a few of them at my house later that evening.

I went home a few hours later, and opened the shoe box. One of the games was Alley cat. Another was Arkanoid, Battle City. I noticed they were all old and most of them were 8-bits, so I found it weird that they were all PC games. I dumped the box out and went through the games. There was one odd one though. It was in a black case.

I opened it, and inside wasn't a PC game. It was an old Gameboy game. It didn't have a title, or a picture on it. It just had a number, labeled 1609515390. Luckily for me, I had an old Gameboy advanced that still worked.

The Gameboy logo came up like normal, and then a tune played. It wasn't a tune I've ever heard before. After about 3 seconds, the screen went white and the sound was just a buzz. I turned off the Gameboy, took out the cartridge and blew it to clean it out. It came on like normal this time.

The tune played, then a game logo came up. It said 1609515390. It had play, load, and options. I clicked play and it went to a level one loading screen. The graphics were higher than 8-bit, but still not the best. The character I was playing as looked like the grim reaper.

I walked around, and there was some kid, about 15 with a baseball bat, beating up some little kid. The kids screams were rather lifelike for a cartridge game. I swung my scythe with the b button, and the bullies head fell off. The blood looked out of place, with it having a pixilated 'glimmer' effect. I clicked A to talk to the little boy, and it zoomed in on his face. He seemed to be about 8 or 9. His face was badly beaten, and his eyes were extremely realistic. He was laughing, which was also realistic. Blood poured from his wounds, as he remained laughing.

I turned off the Gameboy and sat it on my bed. I knew that I wouldn't play that again. I picked up the Gameboy and sat it on my dresser and sat on my bed, looking through the other games when I heard a tune play. It was the game tune, then I heard laughter follow it. I pulled the cartridge out of my Gameboy, and threw it out my window.

It's been 2 years since then, but last night, I was going through my closet, and found an old shoebox. In it were some old games. There was one that had no title to it. Instead there were just numbers. It read 1609515390.
