Babysitter

One rainy Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Robinson had to go on an all-night business trip, and left their four children with Tina, the babysitter. The children's names were Kyle, Laura, Kimmy, and the baby, Spencer. The kids were well behaved. She didn't mind watching them for the night, and the parents were paying double her usual amount.

At 8 PM, Tina went and laid Spencer into his crib. He was tuckered out. She went into the living room with the other three children, and they began to watch a movie.

At 8:45 PM, she got a phone call. After pausing the movie, she answered the phone without thinking much of it.

"Hello?"

"...yes..." said a disturbingly deep voice. "...I'm going to kill you..."

"What?" Tina replied, looking awestruck, and she hung up furiously.

"Who was that?" asked Kyle.

"Nobody, it's okay."

She un-paused the movie and they continued to watch.

At 9:15 PM, she got another phone call from the same number.

"What? Hello?"

"...you're going to die..."

"Stop this, now, or I'm calling the police!" Tina yelled through the phone, and hung up.

"I'm scared, Tina..." said Kimmy, the younger of the two girls. "Don't answer the phone."

After that, they all kept trying to watch their movie in peace (Tina had turned off her phone) but the house phone kept ringing, and ringing, and ringing, until Kyle bravely stepped up and answered the phone.

"What do you want?" Kyle asked angrily.

"...your blood would be nice..." said the voice on the other line. "Red rum! RED RUUMMM!"

Kyle hung the phone up and shook his head.

"I have to go to the bathroom." he said randomly, and stormed off into the darkness of the hall.

Tina and the others didn't want to resume watching the movie without Kyle in the room with them. They waited for over 20 minutes, but Kyle did not return. Finally Laura, the second oldest of them, said that she would go and get him. Laura didn't come back after 10 more minutes had passed, and Tina wanted to go and find them both, and took Kimmy with her. The phone rang again, and Tina grabbed it.

"Look, you... jerk." Tina started. She had wanted to say 'bastard', but didn't want to say it in front of Kimmy. "I don't know who you are, but..."

"...have you checked the baby?" said the creepy voice on the other line.

"The... the baby!?" Tina screamed, and dropped the phone, leaving Kimmy in the living room, alone.

Tina rushed as fast as she could into Spencer's room. The crib was empty.

"Oh my god... oh my god... no... NO!!!" Tina said hysterically. She ran back into the living room, and Kimmy, too, was missing.

"Guys! Guys! Where are you? KYLE? KIMMY? LAURA!"

She frantically began to search the house, but noticed something was amiss. The knife drawer had been opened recently. She ran to find her personal phone, but realized it was gone. The home phone was gone too, leaving her no way to call for help. But then, she heard it ringing upstairs.

She slowly ascended the steps. The ringing was coming from the closet in the master bedroom. She opened the door and reached into one of the coat pockets for the phone. The caller ID said that it was HER cellphone calling.

"W... why..." she said as she answered the phone, not properly knowing what to say.

"...I'm calling from inside the house..." the disturbing voice said mockingly.

"I'm calling the police you sicko!" Tina said as she hung up. She ran to the bedroom door and locked it. She dialed 9-1-1 and told them of her situation.

10 minutes went by in silence after she had finished. A soft knocking on the door alarmed her, and she got up off the bed and put her ear to the door.

"Kimmy?" she said. "Kyle? Laura?"

There was no answer. She felt no desire to open the door at the moment.

She had spent the next 15 minutes sitting on the bed to wait for the police, and then she started to hear a scuffling sound outside of the door, as if someone was trying to pick the lock. Tina cried out, and launched herself at the door, holding it closed. A knocking sound was heard on the front door downstairs.

"HE'S IN HERE!!! HE'S IN HERE!!! PLEASE!!!" she screamed, but it was too late. The bedroom door had burst open wildly, and Tina's screams were heard from the front door by the policemen, who kicked their way in.

The police investigated the house for a long time. They didn't find the three children, or Tina. They only found baby Spencer, playing with a bloody kitchen knife in the hallway.
