Something happened recently. It was a very strange occurrence. I posted it to the Roblox forums, simply to tell the internet of these strange and downright creepy happenings, and I labeled it "Ever play Baldur's gate?" I do hope someone can provide me with decent information on what had happened. It was a bootleg to Baldur's Gate:Dark Alliance. I added details here that the roblox forums would not allow, because what the forums say are not the 100% full story

Ever play Baldur's Gate?

Well, I've played Baldur's Gate, Dark alliance, because I hear the second is a complete D&D ripoff, and I've found a ROM someone made for the SNES. I was completely shocked, and so logically, I thought it was a hack. So then I emailed the creator, Lockiluu666776, And he explained.Ill show our Email words:

Me: A question. How in the world did you convert a game as HUGE as baldurs gate into an SNES ROM?

Lockiluu666776: It was easy, actually. I used NES final fantasy 1 graphics to save space, but with a bit of tampering to the models, and a change of engine. Normal flash games can swing a sword or shoot something with little to no addition to the space, so I added that to the characters. Vahn was easy, all I had to do was a thief with fewer ears and more hair :D

Me: But the music has to be in there, otherwise it's just bad. And what about copyright?

Lockiluu666776:I made the game myself, and all it say for the title is B.G.B, Baldurs gate bootleg. the music was easy too. Music files for old games are extremely cheap, so copying notes into an editable file cant hurt. Gonna buy?

Me: It costs 30 dollars!

Lockiluu666776:With all the time and work it took, it should cost 50. Do you know how hard it was to animate kromlechs height? Ill throw in a bonus code, just for you, if you buy.

I cut out the rest, because the code is mine (As well as the game, find it yourself :P) I downloaded the ROM and an emulator, I'll update you on the game. Eventually if i manage to stop playing it when I start

Update: October 30, 5:26 PM

Good news: I've completed the sewers and the crypt. and the crypt is PATHETICALLY easy!!! Let me explain. I chose Kromlech. The zombies and skeletons don't like warhammers, and they don't do enough damage to penetrate armor. Combined with the fact that I can spin attack, clear the scream, and move fast for a short period without losing my mana, and even the boss became easy thanks to the zombies. I've studied more. He first recolored final fantasy characters and used an engine for gameplay similar to a link to the past, using a few maps from it. He added a few easter eggs. Such as an odd rune hidden in a secret room. I'm going to ask him about it soon Rabano out.

Update: November 1, 6:56 PM

Ive spent the majority of the last two days playing the bootleg. Might've been why I didn't update very frequently. Although there is one problem. The dungeon that leads to the fight against karn? HARDER THAN IT WAS IN THE ORIGINAL GAME! And in the original? It was still hard as heck! For the two days, I spent 3 hours trying to worm my way through. I'm gonna see what the bonus code is, right now I'm taking a break from 8-bit music and graphics.

Update: November 3, 3:21 PM

Bad news. The code was just something that said "BGB Secret ending" and then a code. So I forced my way through the dungeon by myself. I'm in the sunset mountains, and I just finished the torch sidequest. I remember there was an elven wizard and a dragon as their bosses. After this, I'm supposed to be going to the marsh.

Update: November 13, 8:57

Ok. Sorry I haven't been updating often. Truth is i finished the game a LOOOONG while back, I've just been focused on getting myself to play that monstrosity again, mainly by relaxing myself with my friends.

Here's the problem: I fought my way through the marsh and into the onyx tower. Pathetically easy as I remember. However, when I entered the onyx tower, a popup came up that says "Enter code?" With a "Yes" and a "No" Choice. I pressed yes and entered the code.

Things started going downhill from there.

The whole place swirled and flashed red, and then I was put in the tower. It wasn't the normal music. It was an 8-bit stone tower theme. The walls around the tower were crimson-orange brick, and down a pit was a very familiar background. But I ignored it and went up the tower. The giants were scarier than I remember, probably because they're in their 8-bit form, or maybe just because of what happened before that. So, I climbed the tower, higher and higher, leveling and leveling, until I came up to the second to last floor. Now here, there's supposed to be a ghost, who tells you some backstory of the antagonist, Eldrith. When I came up to what was supposed to the place the ghost was at. It was medusa from Kid Icarus. She was dark, yet see-through, implying she was a ghost. Her skin and hair was darker than normal, almost shadowy, imposing.

She talked like the ghost did, except without actual dialogue, However, it made all the more sense with the dialogue for this character. And it scared me out of my hair. It gives me even more chills when I got the onyx sword. It was the same color, only the graphics made it seem more shadowy, more gloomy. Nevertheless, I equipped it, along with my shield, and headed up.

Eldrith the betrayer, the one from the original, was replaced with something a bit more creepy. It was a high graphics dark pit. His wing were spread wide in near DS rank definition. Bags were under his sparkling crimson eyes. He was angry, of course. I spoke to him. He said the same things eldrith says. His voice was like hers, but more male. It made sense, in a depressing kind of way.

The battle was similar. Except there was a ring of fire, and dark pit could fly. But I defeated Him. The game black red again, and I ended up in a weird place, with strange visuals. I remember this as a kid Icarus level now. I went to a save spot, and E-mailed the creator. No matter what I say, he only replies "Well finish the game then." I think I'll check it out tomorrow.

Update: November 15, 1:12 PM

Sorry if this is late. I'm on a school laptop, partly because I don't know if Lockiluu666776 is a hacker, but mostly because it was the only time I had to write to the forums. I played the game for forever last night, before I ended up napping on the keyboard. I woke up late and had to go to school, leaving no time for an update.

About the game... when I opened the game,I was back at the save point. And when I looked, There were a few details I missed. My avatar, kromlech, was bruised, with bloodshot eyes, bruises, and he seems to be more tired and pale. I let him walk through the dungeon, although there wasn't much actual guiding i had to do. The level was a map from kid Icarus, even though the game was played from a top down perspective, and kid Icarus was a side-scroller, or up-scroller.

Stone tower temple, the 8 bit version played in onyx tower, was playing much slower, and quieter.I went through the level, only to find it stop at a completely flat surface. I walked around, and found an invisible path north, or up, or whatever it was supposed to be. I kept walking on nothing, my character going up, and reappearing on the bottom of the black screen to go up again. Until I came up upon a sprite.

It was Pit. He was kneeling, panting. He saw me and shot an arrow at me. I kept walking, as the arrow didn't actually DO anything. He shot an arrow for every step i took towards him, and then, one step away from him, he shot one more. Except this one was a crimson color. The screen flash and swirled and pixelated and all these strange effects happened, and I ended up in what seemed to be a firey cavern. I walked through, but kromlech seemed to be limping.

Even though 8 bit final fantasy sprites shouldn't limp. Kromlech made the same motion every final fantasy character did when it was close to fainting. Kromlech would kneel and pant every six steps, and would pant six times, and this continued for the next 6 rooms. on the seventh, hades was there, only he had fainted, dark pit in front of him.

"I will not let you take the life of another! These senseless rampages shall end!"

He sundered the onyx sword, and then the screen went dark. Now the room was nearly completely black. Kromlech's skin was utterly pale, and his eyes were even more bloodshot, his sprite now the 16-bit one it usually should be in an SNES game.

Kromlech was now barely moving, kneeling and walking at the same time. He would faint, occasionally, for 11 seconds before getting up. I kept going right, despite all this delay.

There was a room, with red writing on the wall saying "IS THIS FUN FOR YOU?" Thee were dead goblins and rats on the floor. I kept walking, though he was moving even more slowly than before.

The next room said "SENSELESSLY RAMPAGING INNOCENT CREATURES." And there were more bodies. Kromlech had a tear near his eye now, as he kept getting slower and slower.

The next room said "I WANTED YOU TO STOP. BUT YOU WONT STOP. YOU WILL KEEP DOING IT OVER AND OVER FOR NOSTALGIC AMUSEMENT." It started to get creepy. There was now the bodies of frost giants lying in the black grass. Kromlech was now crying through this room, continually getting slower. He came to the next room.

"YOU WILL NEVER ESCAPE."

No more bodies. Just Kromlech crying. He kept going through rooms, continually becoming more and more slow "YOU WILL NOT BE FORGIVEN." "YOU HAVE DONE WRONG" "THIS IS NO GAME." "THIS IS VENGEANCE" At the end of this room was a tunnel. Kromlech kept slowly going towards it, as there was a light at the end of it. ? Two squares away, he fainted. He fell through red pits, and bunch of screamers started appearing.

And then, it became dark again. And then I heard a laugh in my headphones. Kromlech was closer, facing me, tears in his bloodshot eyes. And then he started walking left on his own. The tears were leaving his eyes and stars appeared, and he climbed into....a kart? He then drove on a rainbow. And I heard the tanguy ukulele orchestra play the rainbow road theme in the background. It was strangely soothing, despite it being completely strange.

The credits rolled, all crediting it to me, literally. Executive producer: You.

I noticed the road was beginning to become darker and darker, as the credits were too. It became pitch black. The music was beginning to slow as well, until it stopped. there was silence for about 5 seconds

Then there was a screamer, showing kromlech, in high definition, bruised, mangled....and dead. And then the emulator closed, all on it's own. When I opened it again to continue playing, the file was gone, along with all the save files. I've known games to erase their own existence, I mean, luna for god's sake. It wasn't quite shocking.

But I began to think. The code couldn't have programmed this to happen, could it? It was a relatively short code, it couldn't change that much data, right? Especially to rid all files related to it's existence. But, after a while, I calmed down and decided to ask Lockiluu666776 about it in an email.

He responded, "Who are you?"
