Berry Powder

Pinwheel Forest. A place of beauty. Wilderness. And sometimes... danger.

Now, don't think this berry powder is a danger. No, it's a healing powder. It comes later in the story.

Anyways, the story starts with a small group of Timburr: Jack, Mantrodole, Troubled, Beatrice, and Wisconsin. Jack was the nurse of the group. Mantrodole was the leader, so he tended to be vain. Troubled was self-explanatory: he had a run of bad luck. Beatrice was the only female in the group, and just as caring as Jack. Wisconsin was the greediest of the five, and the least talkative. I know, I know, doesn't sound very scary, right? I just wanted to give the characters a little background.

One day, like every fall for the Timburr, the group went to search for berries. Logical, since winter was coming up. As Jack was gathering some Figy Berries, he heard a scream of pain in a surfer accent. Jack almost dropped the berries he was holding along with his square log. He ran toward the sound source, and what he found was what made him drop his berries.

The source of the sound was a Pansage. His left arm was as flat as a cartoon arm run over by a car, and covered with so many small purple dots, it seemed to be completely purple. Burn marks covered his cheeks. His right arm and body were scratched. His legs were frozen. His eyes were swirly. Jack swiftly placed the fainted Pansage onto his square log, picked up his berries and log, and sped-walked all the way back to the group's meeting point.

"Ay, what happened to him?", Beatrice asked Jack when she saw the Pokémon on his timber. "We've gotta help hi-"

"Ok, how did that happen?" Troubled interrupted when he ate an Iapapa berry, which he somehow mistook for a Mago Berry. Troubled was answered by Wisconsin gobbling down several Mago Berries.

Mantrodole said to Jack, "Well, you must have some idea of what to do. After all, you are the nurse of the group. Even I don't have any ideas. Looks like it's just up to you."

Jack responsively gave a thumbs up, then replied, "I need some berries for this." Mantrodole sighed in obviousness.

Wisconsin's mouth started to water as soon as Jack got to work. Jack was tossing several kinds of berries into a bowl: Cheri, Occa, Yache, Kebia, Coba, Tanga, Gonlan, and Apicot. He ground the berries into a powder - or, should I say, THE powder – and emptied it into the Pansage's mouth.

The Pansage's left arm became as green as grass, and swelled until it was at normal size. The burn marks and scratches faded. His legs thawed. Jack popped an Oran Berry into the Pansage's mouth, and the Pansage's eyes were closed instead of swirly.

The previously-ill Pansage got up, and replied, "Thanks. I wasn't expecting a Pokemon to help me. I owe you one." After a short pause, he added in, "Oh, and my name's Nick, in case you were wondering." The whole group of Timburr became slightly surprised, since Nick's casualty was not enough to match his surfer accent.

Jack asked, "I suppose you were attacked, but exactly what happened?"

Nick shuddered a bit, then said, "Well, I was gathering berries with my friends - a Pansear named Andrin, and a Panpour named Splash...". He quickly looked over Jack's shoulder, then continued. "As it seems you guys have done with each other, a trainer came over. She stared at me with a meaner look than the move of the same name, and released three Pokémon: a Scolipede, a Vanilluxe, and - boy, was I surprised – a CHARIZARD. There aren't even Charmander in Unova!"

"In a flash, I knew this girl didn't like Grass-types. My friends..." Coincidentally, Andrin and Splash ran into the scene. Andrin said, "Oh, thank goodness you're all right!", while Splash had a puzzled look on his face. Nick smiled pleasantly at the presence of his friends, and continued again. "Anyways, my friends retreated, despite their resistances."

Splash: "You bet! That was nearly the shock of our life!"

Nick: "And, finally, a sum-up of what happened to me in nine words: Ice Beam, Flare Blitz, Air Slash, Poison Tail, Steamroller."

Andrin: "Ay, yi, yi!"

Nick: "Anyways, thanks for helping me ou..."

Suddenly, something hidden, but nearby, cried, "CHAR-IZARD!"

Nick said, "Oh, no! Not this time!", and all the three monkey-like Pokémon ran away in terror.

Out of all the five Timburr, Troubled was the most frightened. The Charizard – the same one that attacked Nick - started to use Air Slash on Troubled, who cried, "Why me? See, everybody? This is why you should never paint a Purrloin black!"
