Several high-ranking members of the VMRB, the country's censorship board, were gathered around a TV set to review a VHS tape, allegedly given to them as a gift from the government of another country, namely the Kingdom of Malichka.

The label read: "As a gift from Director of Radio Television Malichka, Harold Bacovnik, under the authority of His Excellency Prime Minister Marko Duganzich and His Royal Highness King Antun IV of Malichka."

Unaware of the dark difference to the plot of the movie, the officials, supervised by the Deputy Prime Minister of Vasteria, just put the tape on the VCR that had been linked to the TV. The movie began to play out as normal, with Coraline discovering the secret door, etc.

But, the VMRB officials noticed something wasn't right with the plot. The differences started out subtle, only for them to intensify as the movie went on, but all these were merely premonitions to the colossal twist that was coming. And no one knew how sinister it would be.

So Coraline won the game just like in the theatrical cut, but with one major difference to the plot: the Other Mother was still unconvinced. It turns out that the Beldam had rigged the game in her favor, and, turning into her true form, proceeded to take out the sacred box with the needle and buttons, and with a blank expression, did what she asked for: out with Coraline's eyes and in with the buttons.

As Coraline had her eyes plucked out by the Beldam's claws, she was screaming in excruciating pain. The Beldam ignored her cries as Coraline tried to struggle, but in vain, as she proceeded to sew the buttons onto her eyes.

Finally, after the deed had been done, Coraline passed out, having had to endure 30 seconds of super-excruciating pain. The Beldam reverted to her "Other Mother" self and wiped the blood that was dripping from Coraline's eyes, or at least what was left of her. With her flesh consumed and her soul permanently corrupted, she woke up and smiled menacingly, now the loving daughter the Beldam desired.

Then, there was a flash-forward, with the scene of Coraline eating with the other version of her family playing again. Then, we zoom in on Coraline, revealing her brand-new button eyes, as a suspense sound effect played. The film ended with the camera zooming out of the Other House like in the theatrical cut, but at daytime, and without the cat vanishing through the mailbox. After that, the credits rolled.

And there was one major difference to the credits. There was a note at the beginning that said:

THIS CUT OF THE MOVIE HAS BEEN MADE SPECIFICALLY FOR BROADCAST BY RTVM.

As the credits rolled, the VMRB officials were shocked. They could never believe why RTVM would make Laika do such a thing. They immediately showed the tape to Vasteria's main broadcaster, Vasteria Broadcast-Radiodiffusion, and like the VMRB officers, they were so shocked they immediately had to contact the RTVM officials by telephone as soon as the viewing of the "other" film was over.

The RTVM officials said that audiences were curious to see what exactly would've happened if the Other Mother won. Malichkans would usually see happy endings as cliched and RTVM was no exception, with much of their soaps ending with the villains victorious and/after killing the heroes.

The VMRB officials finally found out exactly why this ending was made in the first place. Malichkans were getting sick of good endings so they requested for a bad ending to be made for release in theaters and on TV screens up and down Malichka. The alternate ending had also been broadcast a few times on Vasterian TV instead of the US cut, and it terrified some kids who were unfortunate enough.
