Corners

I never really thought that I would share stories publicly. But something in my head... keeps telling me to get my story out.

About a year ago, I was hanging out with some friends. They started talking about this video series called "Marble Hornets." I was intrigued by the odd name. So I asked if we could watch it. Now at that time, they only had about... 35 videos up. So, we sat in Lyndsie's basement. It was cold and dark, and I had this odd feeling running up my spine, and all throughout my gut. Almost the feeling of being nervous, or anxious. Her boyfriend, Remingten, then hooked up the laptop to the TV, enabling it to show the videos on the screen (he's good with things like that) and we began watching from the beginning.

"How do you like it so far, Sara?" asked Cody. We were only about a minute into the first video. "It's alright, I don't see the point."

"Did you not see him?" asked Remingten.

"...Who...?"

"Slenderman."

I started to freak out, considering I'm gullible as fuck and easily believe in things like that. "Who is the Slenderman?" I chuckled. "You'll see."

So we all continued watching the videos. By the 14th, I was freaked out. I didn't think I'd sleep that night.

"Can we stop watching this?" I asked to Remigten.

All of the sudden, this deep, almost demonic-sounding voice came out of nowhere screaming "NO. WATCH IT." I jumped and asked who said that. "Was it you, Cody...?" "Was it... what?" Cody looked at me like I was crazy. "I just heard someone yell "NO WATCH IT" in a demon voice." "Wasn't any of us," told Lyndsie. I just didn't know how to feel at that point, so instead of making people think I'm crazy or a liar, I kept to myself after that. Once we got to the 24th video, I had to pee. Badly. But Lyndsie's house was very large, and very dark. So I asked if Lyndsie would come with me. "Scared much?" she laughed at me. "No... just a little shaken." I said with my head down. "Alright. Then go by yourself, you know where the bathroom is!" she sat back down, and started drinking her tea. I really wasn't excited about this adventure. So, I made my way up the stairs and as I was going up, I felt something watching me. I looked out of the corner of my eye, and there he was.

Tall.

Long arms.

No face.

I screamed the loudest I have ever screamed, but once I did... everything. EVERYTHING went black. I was literally in this black abyss. I felt a cold, boney hand covering my mouth. The taste of blood was running on my tongue, I looked at the hand, seeing that it was drenched in blood. I looked around, trying to find something to explain where I was. Nothing, just a black nothingness. I felt a face, slowly creeping up to my ear. It said to me, with a low and raspy voice, "You will not." The hand slowly started fading from my mouth, and I began to scream. "Will not unsee what?!" I screamed to the figure. It was just standing there, I felt the coldness of its stare, yet it had no eyes. I decided to ask it something: "Are you the Slenderman?" I was still yelling, and crying; I had also fallen to my knees. I looked down at what you could say is the ground, and all of a sudden... the feeling of acid was covering my body. Like someone had dumped acid all over me. I screamed in pain, and started to flail around, pull out my hair and scrape my face furiously, hoping the unbearable pain would stop. I screamed one last time, and closed my eyes.

I awoke with a slap to the face.

"SARA, ARE YOU OKAY!?" Lyndsie was yelling quite loud, everyone else was crowded around me, just staring at me. "I..." "What the fuck was going on?" Lyndsie asked me. "I... I can not... unsee..." At that moment, those were the only words I could grasp to find. "What do you mean...?" asked Cody. He was starting to look pale, and frightened. I was stiff, cold, and my eyes were red from crying. My face burned from the claw marks I had inflicted on myself. They called my mom, telling her what had happened, and she rushed to get me. I still couldn't speak, and if I did, the only thing that would come out was "I can't unsee."

The next day, I woke up, not remembering falling asleep, or even getting home. I was insanely scared, to the point where I needed to be around someone so I felt that sense of comfort. I decided to get on Facebook, and try to get a hold of my girlfriend (I'm openly gay) Jade. I saw that she was online, so I opened the IM box and started to type, yet before I could even say anything my phone goes off. It was an unknown number, so I picked up, and the only thing I could hear was breathing. Deep, heavy, raspy breathing. The last breaths of a man that has had his throat slit, is what I would describe it as. Then the bling from Facebook came on, making me scream and throw my phone. Thankfully it didn't break. I looked down and saw Jade had messaged me;

"Hey! Are you okay?"

"No."

"What happened? :("

"I don't know. You would think I was crazy if I even attempted to explain."

"I heard that you freaked out. :/"

"Yeah, I did. I have a lot of scratches on my face."

"Do you want me to come over...?"

I hesitated, I really didn't know if I wanted her to come over. I wanted someone there, but at the same time I didn't. Only because I wouldn't know how to explain or describe what happened without sounding insane. But I missed her, and could really use her comfort.

"That would be really nice..."

"Okay, I'll be there in an hour. I love you."

"I love you too."

She went offline. It was 10:34am and I was getting hungry. So I walked over to the kitchen and opened the fridge. Same old same old. I grabbed some water and an apple and walked back into the living room and sat on the couch.
