My name is Layne Irvin. Not so long ago, I was looking around my town for yard sales. I discovered that a new family had recently moved into a house about 4 blocks from mine, and they were giving out stuff for free, so I decided to check it out. So when school ended, I decided to take my empty bookbag and head down to the house. When I got to the house, I noticed that it looked rather old, and I looked around to see if anyone was home, but no one was. I looked for a car and knocked on the door, but no answer. I saw a small table with a couple things on it along with a cardboard sign with the words "FREE" sloppily written on it by a black sharpie, so I decided to take a look. When I looked, there were only a few things on the table: a computer motherboard, an old toy car, a small book of poems, a large book all about computers, computer languages, computer viruses, etc., a worn out chess board, and a USB stick, I picked up the USB stick and noticed that it had a small piece of duct tape on it that had a frowny face. So I, being interested in computers, grabbed the USB stick, motherboard (since I collect computer chips), and book on computers and headed home.

When I got home my parents were at work, so I headed upstairs in my room and got onto my PC. Quickly, I put the motherboard in a box filled with other computer chips and slid it back under my bed. After that I sat in my chair and turned on my computer, while it was loading I pulled the USB stick out of my bag and decided to put it in my computer. Right before I put the USB stick into the computer, I opened up Virtualbox and loaded up Windows XP Professional, just in case the USB had a virus on it. When the Virtual Operating system loaded up, I put in the USB stick.

When the USB stick was loaded, a small menu came up with 4 unnamed folders. It was named "CorruptedFile.exe", so I decided to start with the first one. When I opened the first folder, a program came up, it was every keyboard/synth patch, from the Fantom G, V Synth GT, Tyros 4, Nekko XXL, Yamaha MO8, Jupiter 80, Virus TI, Motif XS and more! I was excited! So I unplugged the USB and plugged it into my PSR-E423 and saw that it worked, every patch from a bunch of keyboards. After about 5 minutes of me surfing through some neat sounds, I turned off my keyboard and plugged the USB stick back into my PC to see what was on the other files.

So I loaded up the second file only to see that it had some poems on it, from people like Edgar Allen Poe. After I looked through the poems, a sound box came up and read a poem with a Microsoft Sam like voice, the poem was "In the dark recesses of the mind, a disease known as fear feasts upon the souls of those who cannot overcome its power... and so fear is forced deep within the soul of a hero. Conquered... at least, for now." I was kinda weirded out because I could hear the volume even though my speakers were turned off, but I just shrugged it off and moved on to the next file.

I went back to the menu only to notice that the fourth file was gone, I was kinda worried that maybe my computer had a virus, but I moved on because I knew that I was on Virtualbox and just by the name of the program, the file may have deleted itself, but I was mostly worried about the patches, there must have been at least 55,000 patches, no way a small USB stick could hold THAT much memory, but I just still ignored it for now and moved on.

When I opened up the third file, a list of every, and I'm not kidding, EVERY computer virus, Trojan, worm, etc. came up onto my PC on a list, but the weird thing was that it was having more and more added to it, like it was updating. Confused, I shut the list off and went back to the menu, only then I knew something was very weird.

A file with my name came up, so I opened up the file only to see that it had over 600 jpgs, and 300 gifs. They were of dead children and adults, mutilated animals and babies, aborted babies, murders, burn victims, etc. Then everything went into slideshow, while the slideshow played showing the horrific photos and animations, the song "All I Have To Do Is Dream" by The Everly Brothers was loudly playing. After the first couple of photos, I vomited onto the floor, and in tears tried to shut the slideshow down, after a while, the song "Teen Angel" by Mark Dinning came up with the photos and gifs, and so did a couple other 50's songs, like "Earth Angel", "Come And Go With Me", and "Life Could Be A Dream". After about twenty minutes of pure torture, the slideshow and music finally stopped and the Virtualbox system crashed.

When Virtualbox crashed, the big list of viruses came up and loaded every one of them onto my computer, literally destroying my computer. About a month since everything happened, I got rid of the files, but kept the keyboard/synth patches file and got a new computer, which I'm using right now. I still don't know how all of that happened, maybe a hacker got into my computer, even though I've never seen or heard something this bad happening. I still have the USB stick and I tried to confront the neighbors about the incident, they had already moved. Hopefully nothing this horrific ever happens to me again.
