Creepcraft

I'll never forget that time last summer. I'm pretty sure the date was June 6, 2011. I was sitting in my room, and I was bored out of my mind. I was watching TV, and texting my friends. Then I got a text back finally after waiting for what seemed like days. It was from my friend Brandon, I swore to myself. If he was going to respond with something that had to do with Minecraft I was going to kill him. I wasn't a major PC gamer, and I wasn't even much of a gamer to begin with. But I thought about trying the game out. I just don't have the patience to build some of the things that I've seen people build. I checked the message, it read, "I need u 2 try out a mod 4 me on Minecraft." I responded back with, "No." As simple as that. Then he texted me back again. "Pleeeaaasse." "No!" I responded again. He tried to call me, and I ignored the call. He left a voicemail, so I decided to check it. I listened to the message, "Dude, please come on. This is really important I need to share it with someone, and you're a good friend of mine so I decided to choose you. Come on, load up Minecraft, I'll send you the download link."

I checked my e-mail and I found the download link. I hesitated, but he sounded very nervous throughout the voicemail, as if this was a life or death situation. And knowing him, it probably was. I went through the process of downloading the mod, and applying it to the game. I loaded up the game, and started to play the single-player mode. The screen went all black, my computer started running really fast. it sounded as if there was a motorcycle in the room. I texted Brandon, "What did you send me? Is it a virus?" I waited for a minute while my computer was still loading this strange mod. I got a message back from Brandon, and it was two words. "Just wait." I waited while my computer processed the mod.

There were green squares, and various other colored squares flashing on my screen. It was a good thing that I wasn't prone to seizures, because I would have been dead. I closed my eyes because if I kept looking at the screen I would eventually get a migraine. Finally my computer calmed down, and I looked at the screen. The game faded in from black. I walked around a little bit, and didn't see a difference. Then I looked to the left, and off in the distance, I saw a large castle. I walked for what seemed like forever to the castle. I got to the castle, and found a message. I read it, it said, "Those who do not follow the rules will be tormented by the guilt of not being the one." I brushed that off as random gibberish, and continued into the castle.

I walked up a staircase for a long while, then I reached the top. There was another message, "Now that you have ascended the staircase of forever, you will be alone until you complete my task." I felt a strange feeling, as if someone was watching me, and that if I tried to shut down my computer now, something really bad would happen. I continued to play. I walked into a mining cart, and I was going straight forward. Then there was a quick right turn, and the cart went straight down. The cart came to a halting stop, and I stepped out. I seemed to be in the underground area of the game. I walked aimlessly and found another message. "If you do not complete these tasks that I am about to present to you, the grip of Hell will consume you. Descending to the depths of Hell is not a fun experience." The note then presented me two options, "Invite more friends, or die." Extreme paranoia poured over me. I texted my friend John, that I knew was an avid gamer. "I know this mod for Minecraft. Ask Brandon about it." I continued to play. I walked on forever in this never ending path. Then I came to another staircase. At the top, another message was displayed. "Enter the mouth of death, and proceed to find the truth." I was really freaked out by now. "Screw this!" I thought.

I jumped up and went to leave the room. Then I felt something, a presence in the hallway. I was on the verge of hiding in the corner. I locked the door, and stared at the computer. From this I noticed something. There was a giant tunnel, but from here, I saw a skull. I guess this is what the game meant by the mouth of death. I sighed, and cautiously entered. I started to get the shakes, as if someone behind me was monitoring my every move. If I got up I would see someone there, waiting for me to try to leave. I started to hear whispered gibberish as I walked deeper through the tunnel. My mind was racing, I didn't know what was going to happen next. I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. I walked towards it as fast as possible. The white light grew very bright, then I had a vision of my grandmother sitting next to me in an all white room. We were having a conversation together. What really creeped me out was that she had died three years ago.

I continued on, ignoring everything. And as I exited, I realized I was back at the beginning of the tunnel. Except this time there was a message, "Almost there! Keep it up! Do not stop!!" I continued on, my paranoia growing every minute. I started to cry, I think I even pissed in my own pants. But I couldn't stop playing. I needed to keep going. Whatever this guy wanted me to do was obviously important. Farther I walked, and every time I got to the end, I ended up back with the same message except with little changes. "Almost there! Keep it up! If you stop for any reason whatsoever, you will be pulled to the depths of Hell.

Almost there! Keep it up! Don't stop, and don't turn around!" I kept walking I had a migraine, and I was suffering of sleep loss. I was hungry, and it was about 4:00 in the morning. My girlfriend was going to come over at 8:00, which was 4 hours away. I couldn't take it anymore, I needed the stop, but the paranoia inside told me to keep going. This time the whispered gibberish seemed to slowly turn to whispered chants. Slowly, and slowly, and slowly, and then...
