The freezing wind blew hard. Marik shivered while Bakura kept his arrogant stance.

"Isn't it scary tonight, Bakura?" Marik asked weakly.

"The scariest thing out here is him," Bakura said, jabbing his thumb twords Melvin, who was walking on the other side of Bakura. Marik sighed in relief and spotted something.

"Look!" Marik yelled excitedly. Bakura and Melvin looked at what Marik was pointing at. There were six children playing in the grass.

"Would you like to play?" asked one of the children.

"Sure!" Marik exclaimed. Marik ran over to them quickly. Children playing in two o'clock in the morning? What the bloody hell is going on?, Bakura thought. Their game was simple, the children would pass the ball around six times, the last child would bounce the ball six times as the others spun around six times. Melvin turned pale. Then Bakura saw it. Six passes, six bounces, six spins. 666. The mark of the beast.

"MARIK, RUN!!" Bakura screamed.

"Huh?" asked Marik, distracted. With a sick smile on his face, one of the children reached into Marik and ripped out his soul, as the other children used razor sharp talons to rip it to shreds.

"BAKURA HELP ME! PLEASE!!!!!!" Marik cried as they ripped him apart. Bakura was frozen, for he had mistakenly looked into the eyes of one of the evil children. The children finished tearing him apart, picked up the pieces and disappeared. Bakura ran to Marik's feet and checked his pulse. He was dead. His face had a look of horror, looking at the sky.

"Melvin?" Bakura called. Melvin started walking towards him. Bakura sighed in partial relief. At least he wasn't alone. Then he felt something watching him. He turned. What he saw made him want to scream. Marik's face now had a look of accusation and WAS LOOKING STRAIGHT AT HIM.

"What do you want Florence?" Melvin looked annoyed.

Bakura turned around and said angrily,"Marik is DEAD, you bitch!" Melvin shrugged. The feeling of being watched was gone. Bakura turned, and saw that Marik's face was horrified and staring at the sky again. Melvin took Marik's wallet and ran off.

"Where are you going?" Bakura yelled.

"To get a life of my own!" Melvin yelled back. Bakura dug a grave and put Marik's body, now staring at him accusingly again, into the hole and buried it. He took a large rock and wrote "Here lies Marik Ishtar" in permanent marker and went home. He got in the bed he and Marik used to shared and went to sleep.

"Bakura, wake up. Wake up, Bakura" Bakura opened his eyes hopefully. Above him floated Marik's soul, sewn together hastily and his mouth sewn shut. His eyes were black voids with small red irises and cat-like pupils. Blood flowed from every seam. Bakura froze again. Marik eyed the pocketknife they kept on the night stand. He grabbed it and cut the seams on his mouth. He opened his mouth wider than humanly possible. His teeth were the beaks of raven, cawing wildly. The rest of his mouth was darker than his eyes. Bakura could feel the hopelessness, despair, misery, and torture. Bakura jumped out of his bed and ran. Marik's twisted soul chased him chanting things like "Why are you running, Bakura?" and "Don't be difficult Fluffy!". Every word made Bakua want to stop and cry.

As if sensing this, Marik's soul said, "Why are you so weak now, Bakura. You used to be so tough and strong. You used to be so tough and strong. You are afraid of me. Why?" At this, Bakura stopped. Marik's soul took this chance to grab him and make him stare into his black, hateful eyes.

"Don't you love me anymore? You did this. You let them do this. This must be what you wanted! You wanted them to do this! You didn't try to save me! Don't you love me? WHY DO YOU HATE WHAT YOU'VE MADE?!?!" Marik screamed this at him.

"I didn't want this! It's not my fault! It's not!" Bakura said loudly, close to tears.

"You're nothing but and effing child anymore. You're not worth my time," Marik's soul said, throwing Bakura against the wall. Bakura went unconscious. When he awoke, he was in his bed. Bakura shrugged the experience off as a dream. He sighed. He was alone now. Melvin was who-knows-where with the $1,000,000 Marik had won from the lottery. Fluffy (their cat) had run off into the night when Bakura got home. Bakura sighed again and packed food, water, an extra set of clothes, etc. into a backpack. He dumped two buckets of oil on the floor and threw a match on it. He watched the house burn for a while then headed on his way on his old bike.

10 years later

Bakura smiled as he combed his short, white hair. As he walked down the stairs of the house he saw that his wife was making breakfast and his 5-year-old son was running around acting like a bird. He ruffled his son red hair and looked at his watch.

"Oh, no, I've got an important meeting at work in five minutes," He said.

"You're gonna be at my baseball game, aren't you, Dad?' his son asked.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world, sport," Bakura said. He turned to his wife.

"See you tonight," He said to her and kissed her goodbye. That night, after getting a promotion and his son winning his game by 10, Bakura lie down with his eyes closed, thinking how wonderful his life was. Then he felt something he hadn't felt in a long time. The feeling that... something was watching him. He lie there nervously, not daring to open his eyes. He knew this feeling too well.

"Hey Bakura. GUESS WHO."
