Dog...

I was watching creepypastas on YouTube. One of them was smiledog. None of the pictures were scary but suddenly the reddish picture of smile dog came on the screen. Chills ran down my spine like needles and I closed my browser. I headed off to bed just then so that I could get to bed before my parents. It would be easier to sleep knowing others were awake. After much effort, I fell asleep. My dream was terrible, grant it I do not remember my dream but I woke up, extremely sweaty. I was wearing a flannel and covered in a thick blanket. I removed my flannel and belt, hopefully helping the sweat. The time was around 11:20. I don't remember the exact time, you see. The image of smile dog was stuck in my head.

I was now in a t-shirt and jeans, and headed to the bathroom to see if I just needed to take a shit. I was still sweating profusely. I was in the bathroom, trying to shit, and stopped. Fear inflamed me and I froze. Outside the door, I heard footsteps. They sounded like claws, like a dog or a cat. It came up the hallway, to my door, and then headed back into the living room. I waited what seemed like 30 minutes before getting the balls to open the door. I walked out of the bathroom and knocked on my parents' door. I walked in and explained to them that I felt terrible. My dad checked my blood pressure for some reason (probably because I'm fat), and concluded it wasn't diabetes. I was still sweating to an extreme amount and had constant chill running up and down my spine. He checked my forehead and removed his hand, creating an "ouch! That's hot!" Kind of impression and said I had a fever. I wondered if this had to do with the picture I saw. I tried to sleep, but couldn't.

I got up from bed and snuck over the the computer. I sat down in my office chair and looked up "funny" on YouTube. I watched these videos until 6:00 AM, when I heard footsteps outside, concluding someone was awake, and once again that made me comfortable enough to sleep. It was a school day, but they had apparently decided that it was OK for me to stay home, for I woke up at 9:00, much later than when I had to be at my bus stop. I got up and looked up more creepypastas, probably not a good idea for my current fear level at that time, but eventually I switched to happy videos.

However, they did no good. No matter what video I went to, "smile.dog" appeared in the related videos, never in the same place. I am not kidding when I say this. And I'm also not going to simply say "I found this odd," because I didn't... I found it scary as hell. I cleared my history and it stopped appearing in the related videos. The face stuck with me.

That night, on a Friday, meaning I could sleep over somewhere, I slept over at my friend's house and brought a couple liters of coke. He stayed up 'till 12 am watching TV with me and then fell asleep. I was scared to be alone in the dark with what had happened recently, so I then called a friend on Skype and informed him on my situation. He had had a lot of scary encounters in his life including demonic experiences. He knew what I was dealing with. He told me to show no fear which they tended to thrive on and to be brave. Also, don't show curiosity when faced with an odd noise, scary vision, etc. Basically, don't be that teenage girl who leaves from the car into the woods and gets slaughtered by some guy in a ski mask. I took his advice to heart.

Later that night, he said he would be right back because he had to take a piss, and then never came back. I discovered later that he had fallen asleep. Anyway, I was left alone and the only person online was a friend of mine named Tony who had changed his profile picture to the smile.dog to troll me so you can only assume I didn't feel like talking to him. On the TV, an episode of Full Metal Alchemist played where Edward and Al found a family consisting of a dad, daughter and dog. The dad mixed the daughter with the dog and made a deformity scarily close to smile dog. The human-dog creature filled me with fear due to its relevance to my situation. I was animating while watching "Employee of The Month" when something happened. The TV shut off along with the cable box. You can only assume that in my position, I assumed it was paranormal and froze on the spot. Then I saw that my laptop had stopped charging as well. I then thought it might be a power outage since all the technology had gone out, but the light in the kitchen was still on. Then it went out as well.

The next occurrence will haunt me until the day I die. A dog nearby began screaming. I say screaming because of the way it barked. It barked over and over for 2 minutes until I got the courage to investigate. I tracked down the barking to the front of the house (I am still my friend's house at this time). The barking was unlike anything I had ever heard. I then headed into an office area where there was a window showing the road on the side of the house and the neighboring houses. If the barking was coming from outside, I would be able to tell with the view from the window. But the barking only grew fainter as I went closer the the outside of the house. I wanted my friend to wake up, but he did not. The barking continued. I then realized something terrible. The barking was coming from inside the house.

I heard it coming from upstairs but I dared not go up there. My bravery only allowed me to the front of the house. I headed back to my laptop and used it to play Warlight. The barking eventually stopped. My laptop gave me the 7% power warning and I closed it. I headed to the couch and tried to sleep. After a few minutes, I surprisingly fell asleep.

The next day, I found a video containing the story on smile.dog. A graduate who was looking to interview a woman who encountered smile.jpg in a floppy disk. The story continued to say that the real picture caused epileptic symptoms and semi psychotic behavior. Out of curiosity, I looked up "smile" in the windows file search bar. A result popped up. "smile.jpg." I closed my laptop. I did not want to see the picture, whether a prank or not, and I did not want to see the file location. I have not used the laptop since and am now writing on an old PC I have had sitting in my room. I don't think I will touch the laptop again.
