Evil Reality
My friend Derek and I was walking around at night just to clear our minds of the events of the week. While walking we heard what sounded like a man screaming in pain followed by breaking sounds. We ran to see if someone needed help we ran and noticed someone on the ground under the shine of a street light at the corner of the street holding something in his hands he dropped it when he saw us and ran at us acting without any rational thought he jumped on me and was clawing and biting at me, he bit me on the arm causing me to cry in pain.
Derek dragged the psycho off me and started to fight with him I got up and started to help the neighbors heard and helped us restrain him while his wife called the cops, lucky for us I live close to the cops and didn't have to wait long for them to take the nut case. I checked the bite mark on my arm and thankfully it wasn't as bad as it felt.
Since he left it behind I picked up the item it was a Resident Evil 2 cartridge for the Nintendo 64. It was in bad shape with the label barely legible and dirt covering it but still I figured I'll play it if it will work. Besides I've always had an interest with the living dead and resident evil was the game the introduced me to them.
Derek was skeptical about the game but I told him that I'll be fine that freak won't need it. When we got to my place I call my family to tell them what had happened after I informed them it was late so Derek headed home I was tired and shook up so I went to bed. The next day I awoke around 7 a.m. and picked up the game I couldn't help but wonder why would he try to break such a great game, I got my Nintendo 64 plugged in and placed in Resident Evil.
The game started just as I remember with high tension music and random clips of the game, the main menu appeared and I clicked new game, I went for Claire but it would freeze when I did so then I picked Leon on normal so I can get the Brad Vickers zombie with normal blood color.
Leon opening cut-scene played and things was going as planned without picking up anything I ran myself to the police station and went down stairs to kill Brad. Something was off about Brad's clothing though his vest was blue instead of yellow, his under shirt was black, His woodland cameo pants was dark red and black. I thought this was just a glitch caused by the poor shape the game was in so I pull out my handgun and shot all eighteen shots in him but he never fell after I did so he turned to me and ran at me.
His speed was amazing it was so quick I didn't even get time to react I was planning to make a run for it once Leon pushes him off but instead I fell and died as Brad was gnawing on the poor guy as normal I heard Leon's death cry as the big bite and tear splashed blood on the screen and the words "you died" written in blood appeared in it on screen then taking me back to the main menu. Pissed off I turned the game off cursing the Brad glitch as I went to back to bed.
I awoke at 2 p.m. decided to give the game a good cleaning after it dried I placed it back in the system and decided to try another round. I did just as before only this time I got the shotgun out of the S.T.A.R.S. room before going to Brad, his clothes was still altered but I knew pointing the shotgun up and fire when they're close takes any zombie out by removing their head. But again he was faster and killed me after being his chew toy again the death scene play as before but the words were changed to:
"I expected more from you rookie."
I was feeling really shook up so I turned the game off and called Derek and told him to come over he told me he had work and I told him I was getting badmouthed by pixels and to get his ass over here. So he came over and I tried again but when I got to Brad he was normal and his speed was lacking like the other zombies after 3 shots he leaped at my foot bite it for a bit and I crushed his head like normal afterwards I paused the game. Derek and I walk to the door and he was telling me how I'm losing it and how he is going to be late and in turn I tried to explain to him what happened to me and why the game is evil. He told me to not get too involved with the zombies for a while.
After he left I took a deep breath in relief that I passed the glitch and I walked into my room to see on my health instead of fine with a steady heart beat my character was dead with a flat line. I unpaused the game to see Leon as a zombie, his face perfectly shown on the screen clothes darkened and stained by blood, skin grayed and, eyes a milky white. I covered my ears when I heard his zombie moaning it was only on 12 but it sounded like the volume was max, I quickly went to turn the game off and right before it turned off the writing appeared on screen and what I read chilled me to the bone:
"Head to the station I'll meet you there!"
I actually started to cry out of fear as I felt blood on my hands because my ears was bleeding. I cleaned up my ears as I did I closed my eyes and then opened them the bathroom light blew and it was too dark to see anything so I opened the door to light it a bit the light shined on the bathroom mirror and I saw the Leon zombie's reflection in it with the words:
"I'm waiting for you." on the it.
I blinked and all was normal again even the light in the bathroom was on, I watched many freaky and disturbing things in my life so I just thought I was losing my mind. I thought I would be fine if I just give it a break so I just decided to watch TV play other games for awhile but as I played I started to replay the words in my mind it was now midnight. I knew I was crazy but I had to know what he had planned so I begin RE2 again but it was changed with altered music it played the Moonlight Sonata and the cut-scenes was death scenes from the first three games and the outbreak series.
After all the deaths I saw zombie Leon head looking down standing in darkness with a dim light above him as the camera slowly got closer to him, once it was to his head the music faded he looked up half of his face was normal the other was zombie then he began to speak:
"We all died because you wanted to play God."
His good eye rolled in the back of his head while sicken smile crept over his face he began to laugh hysterical like he was driven mad.
"NOW WE ARE YOUR GOD!" he shout insanely as the darkness was slowly was giving light showing the cast of all mentioned games but they was all zombies with the decaying flesh, missing limbs, and pale bloody bodies my heroes was the very monsters they fought. Just the thought of them in better detail churned my stomach, then the screen faded to black.
I was now at the main menu all it had was new game and options I clicked options and it bought me to a blue screen with the words:
"Play and die those are you're options." written in blood I went back and hit new game.
There was only one name to choose "YOU" after clicking it a customizable character appear and the text "decorate the lamb as you like and send it to be slaughtered." After I finished I clicked the accept button, the difficulty was on something called reality and the text read:
"Time ticks away your life."
Appeared as the character (That now resembled me a lot.) was in the main hall of the RPD.
I paused the game looking for a weapon and when I did I found I had a virus gage and it was slowly rising I did find a gun but no shells I went to go outside but when I did a cut-scene started showing the door beginning to open then a Cerberus tried to get in but my character shut it out, a text appeared on the screen:
"If you want to run let me give you a reason."
After the text Mr. X busted the door on my left and headed towards me, I turned and ran to the double doors and entered when I did the music didn't stop I was still in danger so I kept running. I made it to the next door I heard the doors behind me being crashed through I ran through door after door hearing the ones behind me fall.
I ran up to the library and the music stopped I searched the place and found a file on the third shelf of books It was titled:
"How Should I Die?"
I read the file:
"I'm finished I'm in the chief's office I found a box of bullets but now there is only one left, that giant bastard has been stopped for now in the right door and soon he is going to wake, the RE ex-survivors are beating down the left door, and my infecting is starting to affect me more."
On the next page it had four options beating to death, torn by horde, zombie, and suicide honestly I didn't like the sound of my choices but I couldn't exit the file so I had to choose one sadly I picked zombie.
After the file went down I ran out the door heading to the roof but when I got there I saw the RE zombies and they saw me so I ran dashed back the way I came when I did all doors along the way was locked so I got to the chief's office opened it and locked it behind me I found a dead body on the ground and ammo on the desk. I walked by the dead guy and took the ammo once I did the dead guy grabbed my foot so I stomped his head then a text appear on screen:
"Playing God again are we?"
I paused the game and I don't know when I got so many shells from one pick up which is only 30 but I instead had 150 shells and my gage was at 40.74%. I took the right door and I ran to the end of the hall a cut scene played I heard Mr.X behind me he picked me up and started to choke me, my character shot a few shots in his face causing him to lose his hold on me I ran around him and shot him in the back using a handgun on a boss B.O.W. wasn't practical but did it anyway.
I ran around the hallway trying to get distance so I can shoot him more he backhanded me and the hit placed me in danger I paused and to check what I'm working with I had three shots left I'm on death's door and my gage was at 88.92% I fire my shots in him and he fell to the floor.
I took a sigh of relief and limped to the office once inside a cut-scene played showing my character coughing up blood then loud banging follow that the camera showed the zombies outside the door instead of moaning they was yelling.
"WE ARE GOD!" over and over again.
It then showed my guy at the chair behind the desk in it was a gun the character laugh as he inspected the gun in my voice he said, "One shell huh?"
My guy took the gun and sat in the chair laughing as he placed the file and gun on the desk, as his body slowly stopped moving his laugh faded until it was quiet and his body went limp.
A text appeared on screen:
"At least you could decide your own fate."
The screen went to black and it just stayed there for about a minute I was shaking with tears as I fight my body fear of going close to the TV and something grabbing me when my guard is down I was about to flip the switch when my face with white eyes jumped on the screen with an unholy howling scaring me back against my bed after 5 seconds my TV and system blew up and was lit on fire I put it out but the real damage is to my mind, I stared at the burnt system both afraid and confused. The game wasn't in it I couldn't believe it I saw the damn thing go up in flames. I checked the power strip after I calmed down and found that everything connected to it was burnt badly I never been so thankful that wiring is bad in the house. I never bothered replacing the system I just sold my N64 games and said I'm done with gaming for awhile.
But I think I know what it was that drove that nut insane it wasn't the game he was trying to destroy, it was the mental curse it carries. Every night since then I've been having nightmares with me eating people then walking into the RPD so Leon can greet me with a smile, "Deciding mankind's fate to take their life of not You're a natural God........ brother."
