Felix the Cat

Ever heard the phrase, "There is nothing to be afraid of"? Actually, there is. You see, I'm an insomniac, and I can't sleep at all, but I can tell you one thing... I 'should've' stayed asleep.

I had been watching a whole hour of Felix the cat on YouTube. But I still can't sleep, so I decided to grab a glass of water. As I walked to the living room, I saw something strange out my front window. It was a black, tuxedo cat, standing on its hind legs, smiling at me... It was Felix! He held his bag of tricks in his right hand (or, Paw), but it doesn't look like the one in the cartoon, it was that of a black suitcase. He danced like a madman, pranced around in a way only a small child would understand. He opened it to reveal, a large, rubber chicken. He went over to my dog who was looking at him, tilting his head instead of barking like a loon like any dog that sees cats outside. He smacked my dog with the rubber chicken and I wanted to laugh but, thought that it might be my tired eyes playing tricks on me.

I watched as he went over to the tree my dog was chained on, and disappeared as I blinked. This can't be happening! It was like a dream, a bizarre, horrendous dream that I can't comprehend. He came back, this time, he walked out of the wooded post of my mailbox. As if Felix walked through a door hidden by my mailbox. I wasn't dreaming... I was awake!

I tried rubbing my eyes but, he was still there smiling like a madman! I tried splashing my face with the glass of water, for him to laugh hysterically at me! I could see him pointing while holding his stomach in that, cartoony way, every time a cartoon character laughs. I just watched in horror as Felix stopped his laughing fit and reached in his bag for what looked like a pair of hedge clippers.

I saw him creeping up on my dog, snipping slowly on his tip toes. He looked as I shook my head "No". He stopped and stood there scratching his head as if confused. He threw away the hedge clippers and vanished behind the bird bath, and I saw my back door creaking open...

I should've stayed asleep.
