Fire Alarms

Have you ever thought, what goes on inside school during a fire drill? Eh, not pretty. I'm a pretty scrawny kid, you know; 5'3, 80 pounds, skinny, 13 years old. I usually beat myself over this, for being "the guy in the background". But no one, NO ONE, will ever see what I saw. Well, let's get on with the story, or a "reality", I guess.

This might sound silly, but I'm very easily scared, by life's simplest things; paper cuts, being alone in a store, talking to girls, you know. But fire alarms, are the worst. The way they give no warning, and they just go off. The sudden sound strikes fear into your heart, and you jump. But what I hate the most, are the drills. Teachers are told everything; when the alarm starts, when to prep, etc.

The teachers don't even tell us. Sucks, doesn't it? Well, it sucks to be left. Not having any social life with others can get boring. No one to talk to, no one to say, "Hey, nice shoes!". Every day is just me, alone in my own little world.

So, we just had a fire alarm, I don't know how long back, and it was the worst. I was in the bathroom stalls at the time, and the alarm went off, screeching loud. Made me almost piss myself. Followed by the screaming of immature kids, they ran off to get outside. I tried to get my pants up, but before I could, I noticed the screaming of the kids. It was more of terror, than jolly old immature laughs.

Scream by scream, slowly faded away. Silence. It was sickening. I was frightened by the absolute silence. I sucked up courage, and walked outside the bathroom. No one was to be seen, and the only thing that caught my eye, were blood stains in the shape of foot prints. Bare footprints. It smelled like crap. I gagged, and ran back into the bathroom. Then, I heard a kid's laugh. 12 years old, to be precise.

I was shaking, and ran into the stalls and locked it. Another scream of a girl, another after the other, after the other. It was ear piercing. I fell to the ground, praying for my ears to stop the mind sickening pain. Tears ran down from my eyes.

"STOP!" I yelled.

The screeching was gone, and I got up.

"HELP!" I kept on screaming.

No avail. It was hell, or at least, it felt like it. For once, I missed the calling of funny names kids used to call me. Every second in that bathroom, was the devil's power at work. Then, I heard that 12 year old's sickening voice again.

"Hahaha, gets you every time, doesn't it?" I jumped back.

It started to sing; "La... la... la... la... la..." I started crying.

"The dogs are not fed... The children are all dead... There's nothing they can do... All's left is... YOU."

The door slowly opened. A bloodied hand, opened the door. I braced my self, waiting for death to take me. That face, that horrible FACE.

"PLEASE!" I yelled.

"DON'T!"

"I didn't get a second chance, did I?" it said.

It started speaking German. It came walking towards me. Slowly, with its arms out. I climbed out of the stall, and burst out the door. It grabbed my backpack, but I left it anyway. I ran, and ran, and exited the front school door. It was night. No one was around, still. It was toying with me. That screeching sound came again. I fell to the ground, grabbing my ears, to the point when I wanted to rip them off.

"STOP!"

That's all I remembered. I was at the hospital.

"You had a seizure, sir." My nurse said.

"You're lucky this young girl found you. I looked to my right.

"My name is Alicia" she said. I sighed, knowing that it was over.

"Oh, I almost forgot." the nurse said. I looked to my left. "Here is your bag."

"My school bag?" I asked.

"Yes, it was found lying on top of you when your were found." I gazed at the bag.

"Now you rest well now. You will be out of here, most likely tomorrow."

She exited the room. I opened the bag, and found all my stuff still there; Binders, pencil box, my homework. After I unpacked, there was a crumpled paper at the end. Curiosity made me pick it up. It had red ink writing, very hard to read, but I made it out.

"La... La... La... La..." My heart started pumping.

I slowly opened the picture. It was the girl, with the horrible DAMN face. I heard a soft laughing from my right. I turned. Alicia was laughing, with her head down. I looked, and blood was leaking from her face. She looked up, and I jumped back.

"The blood is red... his face is blue... 15 victims so far... all's left is YOU."
