FlatOut Creepypasta - Skull
I used to love this game called FlatOut, amazingly fun, was extremely addicted to it for 13 years, but after what happened i just quit and didn't even wanna look at the game anymore.
I started playing this when i was 3 on my cousin's ps2, i used to play this game with my family constantly, i loved this game more than anything! for me it was eat, flatout, sleep. One day i was browsing through the vehicles and i saw a completely glitchy heaven-like pink car that looked like it had grinder's body, but when i saw that, i quickly, cancelled from the menu and it was gone, at the time i didn't know what it was but i wou- ld find out much later down the line.
It's been some long years since i played the game, i now own it on PC, and spent 100 registered hours on it, i started replaying it this year, which would mark it's 13th anniversary of me playing this game, then i try going into my "Cheater" profile to screw around, then when i was browsing the car list in time trial, there was a pink car on a new spot on the browsing list.
It was titled "Unknown" and the circle icon below it had a shadowy figure of a car, on the car info there was nothing more than this:
To unlock this car:
Beat the game on Normal and Professional Handling with the Male and Female Drivers.
So i did just that, it took me 75 hours of playtime, with so much nostalgia and recorded moments of gloriousness.
After i beat the game one last time... After the credits finished they closed itself and a new cinematic started:
It looked like FlatOut guy driving in a purple chevelle around Whattatoo Town in circles for what seemed like forever (whilst showing flashbacks of my journey), until he went to the bank, then it cut to a scene of him driving into an certain honest john's used car dealership, from there he left his car and proceeded to walk (which looked kinda cursed considering he isn't supposed to be walking) then the cutscene ended.
I was now controlling him and i could roam around the place, i saw the main menu cars and their original positions and then there was an isolated spot with a trail of what seemed like slick oil flowing into the dirt, it caught my attention so i went over there in a hurry, i subconsciously held the "Shift" key and he started running. Once i went to the trail of it, the game faded to black and a cutscene started again, it was FlatOut dude looking at a car, surprised with something... It panned onto his eyes i saw the front of the car on his eye, and he looked frightened, it was an pickup truck with an menancing front with a large ass bull-skull on it with a lot of flame vinyls.
Then it shifted into two hands where one was giving some money and the other taking it, and the hand which got the money gave back some car keys which were colored blue with a sign written "FlatOut" with the game's logo.
After that weird cutscene, i was back in control, the game told me to go to some forest and into an garage of sorts, so i went through an new map with a new car, which felt extremely responsive and fast, i had to touch my brakes and handbrakes constantly! i also had to go through an area which reminded me of the main menu with the fucked-up trasher, and when i remembered that, i went into an corner where that car was there and an mangled body torn up with a lot of blood on the dirt revealed itself inside the car, and it was in the game's graphics, it kinda shocked me considering that this is supposed to be a teen-rated game, this didn't stop me and actually captivated my curiosity, so i continued onwards, until i reached the garage.
After i reached it, it showed a cutscene of him entering the garage and closing it in a hurry before the sunset into an dark night.
In the darkness, i could hear FlatOut guy panicking, whilst i could barely see him sitting in a fetal position, frightened to all hell, i couldn't blame the guy for doing that, something in that accident must've remembered him of a trauma.
Then out of nowhere, one light lit from inside the garage, an car headlight and there was a slight silhouette of that car again but on it's front, properly showing it's full appearance, that mechanical monster let out a engine roar and an pickup truck horn which was so aggressive and loud that FlatOut guy started screaming like he normally does but i could feel more fear in his voice, and he started extending his scream in a natural way, and hearing that new voiceclip, certainly got me spooked and then that horrible scene cut.

Then the game threw me back onto the main menu, so i naturally went into time trial and selected the new car, it only had one option of coloring, that bizarre paintwork, and i looked at it's car info:

after i looked at it, the guy singing the Supply Chain - FlatOut song started getting audibly worried at something and stopped singing but the instrumental kept going, this got me a bit weirded out...
I started questioning what the fuck was going on with my game, was it a mod? No way i'm playing on my clean installation. Was it a hack? no, it can't be. Is this some kind of hidden easter egg or secret unlockable? Maybe...
Regardless, i picked the car without hesitation, and then when i went to the select track thingy, there was a new class:
"Trauma"
I picked it out of curiosity and there was only one stage:
"Little chad's Nightmarish Highway Jam Accident"
I picked it and the game started loading...
The loading screen looked different, it looked like the Skull powering through a forest, brutally destroying the trees with it's ramming power. It looked badass!
When it finished, i was sent to a forest and the car was revving, it was loud and powerful, i kinda felt like a god. whilst it was playing "Amplifire - Heartless" but slowed and with a sadder and heavier tone. After it was done revving, it went out and i could feel it's responsive handling, it's powerful acceleration and top speed and as well as it strength, i plowed through a tree thinking i was gonna crash but the car handled it just fine, more than fine actually like it just took down a standing paper sheet with a mere finger. i followed a dirt trail which lead into an highway, from there i started driving through it and i felt a lot of ghost cars surround me, like some sort of ghost traffic, and then they went through me and normally, until they all suddenly crashed and an ghost trucker crashed and caused an explosion, whilst i went through it, i heard what seemed like a speed junkie laughing uncontrollably but in some sort of flashback-like voice and then those hallucinations that my character felt, vanished.
Then the game randomly made me win, with a "Finish!" on my screen, with the ranking showing my time, and another message under the record, "Maybe it's time i show you the truth", i pressed enter, and it played a cutscene, where it a little kid resembling FlatOut Guy was playing with his toys in the back of the car, and what seemed like his parents, driving the car, when suddenly the traffic crashed like the ghosts i saw and that guy sped through the traffic in a pickup truck that looked just like the "skull" with that exact same scream of enjoyment but more better in terms of quality, the screen faded to white and the kid was on the ground, close to a flipped car, with his family inside, most of them dead with only the father surviving but with several broken bones clawing through his skin with tons of injuries. The screen quickly showed a real-life accident on a highway with a lot of mayhem and dead people as well as several cars destroyed.
That image broke me somehow, my eyes were burning, and to top it all off, that fucking car was there too. and inside it was a man with a creepy smily face with pitch black eyes. I wasn't gonna let that shit stand, i had to make that fucked up monster pay for what he had done to those people, so i kept watching, it then cut to FlatOut guy dodging the car from that first scary cutscene and the car running off into the wilderness but not before he threw some sort of atennae onto the car, afterwards he got into his purple chevelle and chased after it. I had a new objective: "Total the demon who took away your family"
" - With pleasure", i said. There i was chasing that disfigured man across what seemed like the estate where this game took place, he took me everywhere, practically across every single course in the game, and when he went through that last sand dune level and exited the stadiums where the stunt events and Destruction Derbies took place, our last destination was a city, densed and packed full of people and cars, the demon without hesitation, ran over every single pedestrian, every single one of them turning into ragdoll whose realism resembled euphoria physics, and full of blood and organs splattering across the car's body paint, that same junkie's laughter but more hellish, as in more stronger and darker tone of voice that resembled evil i mean, that's what i meant with hellish.
So anyways, i had to damage that fuck somehow and i had to get some nitrous so i went through an construction site with a fuck ton of objects i went through as many as i could without losing sight of that prick. I felt my car getting faster and faster with more angrier engine roaring by the second, "Central Supply Chain - The Ever Lasting" started playing but the vocals sounded like FlatOut guy's voice actor and the song sounded more aggressive, and after every takedown i heard that disgraceful man let out blood-curling screams of fear, of which i started smiling like a psycho, then when the last takedown was made, the truck flipped itself in an uncontrollable frenzy, and then it made a last thump on the ground so strong in fact that the ground got damaged textures out of that and the man let out a scream so loud i had to fucking lower the volume of my TV.
After that was done, a cutscene played of FlatOut guy leaving his chevelle looking at the corpse of what seemed like a drug addict turn into an demon, that crap freaked me out, so the game wasn't playing with me. Afterwards, my game showed me that demon's face screaming into my screen and i'll never forget that fucking horrible face. after that was done, a message popped up: "Thanks for playing but you angered him, your steam copy has been stained with malicious aura, if you play it again, your soul will be taken into the game and will replace the demon, and you'll forever roam the land in search of another player who has done the exact same feat as you, and if he beats you, you will die for good, but won't go to any place, you'll look through darkness in all of eternity.
If you want to undo the curse, beat the game again on the ps2, to cast out an counteraction to cast away the curse."
And now, i didn't know what to do, should i abandon this game or try to undo the curse, i didn't wanna play it anymore but then the game told me something: "look i don't know what happened as well, i'm proud of your accomplishments as a gaming driver, what happened here will end up being forgotten as time goes own, but it can be done quicker if you give this wretched curse some closure, this hurts me as much as it hurts you, i don't wanna taint your memories just because of some person's bad wishes upon you destroying your game entirely"
The game was alive, what in the actual fuck? but now that i think about it ... it was the closest thing i had to a best friend, it always cheered me up even in my darkest of days, and all those thoughts made me wanna beat the curse out of it, no matter the cost!
The game said this as well: "You can download it from the internet and emulate it from your PC, i understand how my last body was destroyed and why it did, i'm not mad with you, i understand why you did what you did, and that's ok with me".
It knows i burned all the copies of games i had on my ps2 with my cousin, when the ps2 reader was malfunctioning and only working on ps1 games.
"Beat the game, that's all i ask and you can either abandon me or keep playing me until you die after doing so".
"- Alright, i trust you, i'm doing it!"
"- Thank you!"
I downloaded the ps2 version, emulated it on pcsx2 and started beating it, using the chevelle, which i thought was weird, considering that tragedy only happened on my PC Version, but going forth with my mission i managed to beat the game, instead of the gold medal trophy, i got that horrible face but it started screaming in pain and exploded, leaving only a big flash of light on my face, and an hand started extending from it, leaving my monitor's screen and into my face, i didn't move and let it touch my face, that hand... Grandpa?
And then it was gone, all in a flash, the credits started playing like normally but much more happier than normal, "sixer - the race" was diffe- rent.
And when i beat the game, an message popped up: "Thank you, Alan" Wait how did the game know my-- oh right, it probably heard my name being called constantly in my childhood.

"Skull's negative aura was removed, and so was Trauma class"
"STORY MODE UNLOCKED"
What... the fuck? An Story mode? The game fucking scarred me just to give me a story mode and an muscle car?
Fuck me.
After i thought of that, a cutscene played, showing everything getting destroyed, turning into piles of ashes and debree, and all the rest of worse you can imagine...

The game showed me a picture of my family, with X'es all over them. I hurried outside of my house and my grandma's house which was at the side of my house, was burning, i went back inside of my house and rushed into my parents's bedroom, i found them dead, mangled up like roadkill, i left my house to see that demon again, the bastard fooled me! "Alan, the worst mistake of your life was trying to unlock the Skull" "It was never real, it was just an idea on the head of your precious developers"
"I made it a reality on your copy, seeing as you wanted more out of your game"
"Big mistake, you should've been satisfied with what you had"
"Learn this, idiot, you should've valued your family more than some stupid game, it could've waited, but no, you chose to give into addiction and now i'm giving you an painful overdose, just for you to learn what's best for you"
"The truth is, young man, that you're in your own personal hell, and you will suffer and no one will believe you"
"This is futile, either you go to an insane asylum or you die, only for me to punish you forever!"
" - NO! I will RUN OVER YOU!"
"STUPID IMBECILE I'M UNTOUCHABLE, I AM--"
I grabbed my dad's Renault and ran that fucker over, he was dead, i then fell into the waterfall with my car, reflecting upon my pathetic life, and then...
I woke up somewhere, it was my bedroom, was it all a dream?
I looked at my computer screen, it said "It was good toying with you, asshole, now learn to be a better human being, or i'll truly kill your family"
Shit, it wasn't a dream, whatever that guy was, it was an omniscient being and it was hellbent on turning me back into the best version of me. "FlatOut is not leaving but you better stop playing those fucking games and focus on getting a job you waste of a human being!"
Fuck you man, but shit... you're right, man i've wasted my life with this nonsense, no more, i'm quitting gaming for good.
"Yes... do that if you don't want to come back here, hahahahahaha" and then my computer went back to normal, and when i checked inside FlatOut everything was normal again but i quit it and never played it again ever since. The demon's advice resonated with me for a long time, kinda ironic, considering that aren't they supposed to be evil? Why this one helped me?
So many questions, yet i needed to tell this to someone else, hopefully i'll forget it after a few months and give this crap some closure.
Also one last thing, try to better your life by being more productive, and caring for others, as well as more focused on life matters than fictional and intangible stuff, that's not me that's the guy, he told me to write it down if i ever posted it anywhere or he would give me an vasectomy, ughhh.
