As you hopefully know, neighborville is the home of the two main factions of an epic battle spanning the entire timeline of earth. (and some parts of space.) It is also the 51st state, but it is excluded from nasa. This is why they have their own space association. It was going strong for a while. They had flown into space 6 times by 2022, and were planning another one. Right after the second flight, they hired the youngest astronaut of all time.she was now the chief engineer of their new space station. But this flight was doomed from the start. Neighborville wanted to go farther than anyone had before, but they weren't sure how. They had spent a while planning for this, and now they were ready... or so they thought.

So, anyway. The crash. Alright, so i'll tell you from the day of the flight: As Melika boarded the shuttle, ready to make the biggest technological advancement since the n64, she noticed something was wrong. The cockpit was abnormally hot, and the controls were not lit yet. She got out some ship frostingtm and put it inside the controls. She left it there with a note to take it out when it was ready to launch. And then, a face flashed on screen. She recognized it, but she wasn't sure about it cause it had only been there for a couple seconds. Anyway, she walked over to her position on the ship. She was ready to take off. A voice shouted over the speaker. 3...2......1.....
The flight was going even better than they thought. Arcelia watched the flight on tv. But then, when they were getting into orbit, it stopped. A small figure crawled all over the ship. It broke open the airlock, and popped in. Then, the whole thing was lit in a burst of powerful flames. Melika tried to fix the damages, but everytime she fixed one, two more appeared. Flames, like tentacles, no, exactly like tentacles, grabbed at pipes and crewmembers and dragged them into the ship's insides, never to be seen again. She was soon the only one in sight, and she wasn't sure she would survive. Probably not, but there was a chance. An enormous, flaming, octopus-like creature popped out of the wall. It screamed in pain as it burned and withered. And then, the ship fell. The octopus had died, but something else was in the ship. She heard it. But what? No. it couldn't be. No. She screamed, knowing that there was no escape. This thing was going to get her. But, as every Neighborville resident knows, there is life after death.
Arcelia cried herself to sleep, but that night, she woke up screaming. She thought that Melikas fate was her fault. She snuck to the kitchen, hiding from her relatives. Her mom had committed suicide while Arcelia was ver little. She had 2 twin brothers and a depressed dad. Shehid in closets, cabinets, and bookshelves to get down there. She knew what she had to do. She grabbed the knife, and went upstairs. Back in her room, she climbed onto her bed. She got out the knife, and started to cut. It hurt, but she didn't care. She deserved it; this was her fault. Slice. She could have told her. slit. She could have gotten to the space canon, which, yes, they have in neighborville. chop. It was next to her house. cut. But she didn't do it. slice. She didn't go there, she stayed. cut. And now Melika was dead. chop. It was her fault. Cut.
Melika, of course, turned into a space cadet zombie, and would go on to defeat dreadroot and drive the dummy cult out of the z-tech factory. But, along the way, she had to go through a dummyfication process. She forgot about Arcelia, but she was told there was a way to undo this. There was an old story that if you lit every fire in the camp with your own body, you would have to fight a small army of plants. If you beat them, you could have one wish. One. She chose to regain her intelligence. And then she remembered.
"King, we have found her! She lives in neighborville. She is dying. We must get her here quickly. I believe she has to die in the ritual, correct?" "Yes, you are correct." but this, the thing that killed the astronaut...I've seen it before. It has killed many before the astronaut. He will not stop." "If there was a way to kill it, I would. We would. We must end this being. Although, we must be grateful sometimes of its actions, it has brought us some of our greatest people. And it has shown us the path to our oracle. Soon, we will reign."
And now, a story about Arcelia.
When she was little, she was tormented by a strange being. A large, purple creature with a snake-like tongue and a chef's outfit. It was covered in wounds, and it bled out of its mouth. It had tomatoes that it would throw, and the tomatoes would try to eat her. They had teeth. They flew. She was terrified of this being. It started coming the week before she saw her mom die. It could pass through walls, and it would shout random things at her. Now, after her beloved Melika was dead, it had come back. But it had something new to say.
"You can't get"
It attacked her in her dreams, to. In these dreams, she was as old as she was the first time it attacked her. She had a teddy bear, and it moved whenever she did. It would walk on the roof of whatever nightmarish realm they were in. but, there was a big hole in the ground, on both the top and the bottom of the place. When one fell though, the other did as well, and they would switch sides. The nightmare ends only when they have both been on each side for a couple minutes. When she didn't have that dream, she dreamed about Melika. She remembered things about them, like their first kiss or the time they were on a school trip to the cheese mines and they got stuck in a cave-in together. Everything was dark. She grabbed at the air, and then she found her. She moved her hand upwards on Melikas body. They got closer, until they were right up against each other. They knew that they would be there for a while. They didn't have to worry about someone finding them. She had to relive this moment every night. It kept getting worse, and, at what would have been the best part of the dream, Melika would transform into horrible beings. The octopus. The chef. The creature on the outside of the ship. She would let go of Arcelia, get up, and then kill her painfully, each time worse than the last. It became unbearable. The pain wasn't just in the dream, though. Every day, she would wake up with even more injuries than those she administered to herself. One morning, when she got out of bed. She couldn't. She fell to the floor, and did not move. She stopped breathing. Her heart stopped beating. She could barely think. And then, on the brink of death, a purple light appeared. When she woke up, she was in a different world. But she hadn't died. Not yet.
all across the universe of the dead, a chant resounded. It was about prosperity and a better future. They had not sung it in eons.
