Friend Me

I should have known that this would have ended the way it did. It was all too good to be true. If only I wasn't so stupid, but I am getting ahead of myself.

It all started about a year ago. It was a rainy day and I was down with the flu, so I couldn't go to work. About all I could do for the rest of the day was sit in my bed and be lazy, just waiting to recover.

I was getting rather bored, so I decided to check out my Facebook since it had been about a month and a half since I last checked it. I knew that I hadn't been on there in a while, but man! I had around 35 notifications (including my private messages and friend requests). As I started to go through each individual notification, I noticed a person in my friend requests that I hadn't seen since 3rd grade or so. That's right. I remember now. We were best friends! I had forgotten all about him with the stress of work and daily living, but I felt relieved to see that he didn't forget me.

Needless to say, I was super excited and instantly accepted his request. I PM'd him and told him we needed to get back together. I was just filled with joy from this re-encounter with my childhood friend! We would have so much to catch up on, reminiscing about the good ol' days, about our personal life today, and our plans for our futures!

I waited for a while to hear a response, but after about an hour I closed it out. I decided he probably was busy, and seeing as it was a month and a half since I last got on, he might not even be on (even if it did say he was online). He was probably just away from his computer if anything.

I didn't get back on for the rest of that day. It just slipped my mind. The next day, though, I remembered and the first thing I did was check the messages. There it was, a new message notification! I read it, but what I read seemed a little strange...

Me: "Hey man! It has been a while since we have last talked! We really need to get together soon and catch up!" Him: "Sorry, he has expired"

What did he mean by "He has expired"? Was this some kind of joke? I went to his page, but I got a Facebook error saying that the page wasn't available. He must have had his account hacked and deleted. That had to be it! There is no other explanation. Then, I decided to check my email. Maybe he found my address and sent me a warning or something that his account had been hacked.

I quickly opened up my email and realized that I wasn't too diligent about checking my email either. I searched for about 15 minutes through my unread messages, but to no avail. I did find one email in my spam filters, though. It was from him! Why would it be sent through my spam filters? I opened it up and read what it said...

"Like the message said..."

What, did he get his email hacked too? I looked closer at the email and realized that the middle dot was hyper linked. I was unsure whether or not I should click as I might get a virus, but I clicked on it anyways and it brought me to Photobucket. I saw a picture of him that was used for his avatar on his Facebook page before it was deleted. It was him leaning beside a glass building striking a stupid pose that we used to pose when it was time to take the yearbook pictures for our grade. I decided to save the image and study it closer. Seeing as my major was graphic design with a minor in computer science, it shouldn't be an issue to uncover any mysteries from this image, or so I thought.

I right clicked the file and used notepad to open the image so I could look at the hex code to maybe get a clue as to any mysteries that might be hidden. I saw what appeared to be another web link at about the middle of the code that I hastily copied.

I got back onto my browser and pasted the link. It led me to a blank page with the following statement.

"Friend me, you won't regret it"

At this point, I don't know if it was from my fever or the nonsensical statements, but I was getting mad. Enraged might be a better word. This made no sense! Why would this hacker or whatever he is be sending me these vague messages? Who is he? What does he want from me?

There wasn't any links to his Facebook page, so there was no way I could find out who he was. Then Outlook gave me a notification that I had received a new email. It was from my "friend", but this time it wasn't in the spam filters for some odd reason. It had no subject and the body was blank as well, but in the attachments I noticed a picture file. It was called FriendMe.JPG.

I opened it up and it was the exact same picture. No, wait! I noticed something different about the picture. Something so subtle that it would be missed by most people. I saw a minor change in the reflection of the glass. There was a man in the reflection that you could tell was across the street. In the previous picture he was looking down, perhaps at his cell phone? This time, however, he was looking at the camera from the reflection. Just staring right at the camera. He was at such a distance from the reflection that his moved head was almost unnoticeable, but not completely as long as you studied the picture hard.

I was utterly confused and somewhat scared as to what these were supposed to mean. Nothing made sense right now, the pictures, the odd messages, nothing! Why does this guy want me to friend him so badly? I went in expecting to solve everything only to raise more questions.

The next day I was feeling well enough to get back to work, so I had to put off my investigation. When I was through for the day, I went back home to find out more about this hacker. First, I wanted to do some research.

I searched his name on Google and the very first thing I found was an obituary for him. I started to sob silently, but I couldn't contain my sorrow. This can't be happening! Nothing makes sense anymore! Why? He was my best friend and all I wanted was to get back together with him! I read that he was brutally murdered by an unknown assailant. A note was found in his pocket that read...

"I told you and you didn't listen"

The murderer left behind no forensic evidence for investigators to solve this case. This all happened just the week before I came down with the flu. Is this what the hacker meant by saying "He has expired"? Was he the murderer?

I went back on Facebook and found that his page was back up, but this time the avatar was much different than it originally was. It was the picture under a red filter and clicking on it to get the full size I noticed the man across the street was gone.

About that time the phone rang. I answered it and it was my mother. She said that she was going to come over to visit me. Thank God, maybe she will ease my mind for a while.

The next call I got was from the police department informing me that my mother was in critical condition after a hit and run car wreck and no one was able to identify the driver. It was out in a county road, so there weren't any cameras to take pictures of the car. There was only one witness, but she said that the car moved so quickly that she couldn't get a license plate number or anything. Why is this happening to me? What have I done God? First my childhood friend, and now my MOTHER?

I ran back to my Facebook and I scourged through my friend requests. I got another request from my friend's account. This time, the name was not his name. It said his name was "Friend Me"; just "Friend Me". I was reluctant to accept, but I wondered, could the message that said "You won't regret it" be the truth? If I don't accept, what horrible thing would happen to me? Why was he so desperate for people to accept his friend requests? I accepted him, reluctantly, but I did accept him.

Instantly, I got a PM. It was another link. I opened it and saw the picture of my friend after he was murdered. I knew that I was friends with the murderer. I got another PM that said, "Sure, I would love to get back together. How about the new coffee joint in town".

I knew he was talking about the new coffee joint here in Bel Air. My life just flipped, just turned upside down.

I reluctantly got in my car when a skeleton popped out and it scared the shit out of me! Only it wasn't just any shit, it was hyper realistic shit (a little more realistic than the normal CGI shit I usually shit out of my shitter while shitting at my shitty inturdshit at Nickylesbian Studios)!

As I was driving down the road, a wild Chris Hansen appeared! Holy hyper realistic shit! He must have found me fapping on Omegle! He was hyper realistically hyper and he pulled me out of the car and threw me in the passenger's seat right over there! He then drove me off a cliff and I died!

And that is how I became the prince of a town called Bel Air.

Then SOMEGUY123 took a hyper realistic shit on this page because it didn't meet quality standards!
