Have you guys ever watched Futurama? It is a great show, I recommend you for all those who haven't watched it.. However, it's true story was NEVER EVER told.

Did you guys have seen the Simpsons episode "Das Bus"? It is one of the greatest episodes in the show, but also a clear example of an episode that nowdays is considered cool but on it's time, it was controversial. Why controversial? The narration at the end of the episode caused a 9-year old boy called Dylan Emilio Rodríguez (Born August 12th 1988) to be cryogenically frozen for 100 years with the help of the wind and the chair Dylan was sitting on the day the episode originally aired (February 15th 1998). He wasn't alone, his best friend Giovanni Francesco Rosso (Born November 21st 1987) accompained him as every Sunday. Dylan was of Mexican descent, as Giovanni was of Italian descent. That wasn't all, before that, Dylan and Giovanni played with Dylan's Sega Genesis, watched Toy Story (1995) on Dylan's VCR and played with their toys. Giovanni fainted on Dylan's bed and Dylan fell into the cryogenic tube his grandfather (Born May 6th 1927 and died February 11th 1998) was going to be put on. Giovanni then woke up as he heard the King of The Hill intro and noticed Dylan fell into the tube. He warned Dylan's mom and dad to see their son inside the cryogenic tube. They were so worried and then, decided to put Dylan's grandfather in a coffin instead.

Over the week of February 16-22 of 1998, Giovanni became famous and appeared on the news, radio and newspapers around the world and saying "My best friend fell into a tube! It was the Simpsons' fault!". According to Giovanni, Dylan seemed to have a crush on Samantha Stankey (Milhouse's ex-girlfriend which was sent to an all-girls school), this was likely because Dylan used to draw a lot of drawings out of Samantha, and because of the fact that both were of Mexican descent, while Giovanni had a crush either on Becky (The girl who managed to rush into Bart and kiss him) or Allison Taylor (Lisa's former rival).

When "Das Bus" began to air internationally, they were lots of cases of suicide or similar things caused by the narration at the end of the episode. One of them was a 13-year old boy in France who hanged himself because of the narration, and in Brazil, a 7-year old boy decided to hide himself in his closet after the narration and ever since has never exited it. With that, Fox didn't knew what to do, if either banning the episode, or not re-airing it. Eventually, they kept airing the episode despite the many cases of kids. In March 2nd 1998, Giovanni began a protesting movement called "Cancel the Simpsons", which was unsuccessful and ended later that month.

As he saw Matt Groening was creating a show set in the future, Giovanni told them to base the plot on Dylan's story. Eventually, Matt Groening and David X. Cohen accepted and that's how Futurama was actually born. Futurama began production on mid-1998, just a few months after Dylan was cryogenically frozen. The show premiered on March 28th 1999 to become the show we all know today.

In 2010, Giovanni created a show to make fun of the Simpsons, titled "The Johnsons". "The Johnsons" premiered on Comedy Central on August 3rd 2010, but was unsuccessful, thus leading to its cancellation on December 2013.

So, Futurama's backstory is very dark, right?
