Futurama: I'm So Sorry

This is a fictional horror story written for entertainment purposes. Don't take it seriously.

Everyone knows the show Futurama, right? For those of you who don't remember watching it, it's basically set in the 31st century. Where robots and Aliens have taken over the world and Humans no longer exist. There are some pretty funny characters on the show like Fry, Bender, and Zoidberg. There was also this one elderly scientist that i forgot the name of, since i haven't watched it in forever.

After viewing this rather weird and disturbing episode, my plans of ever watching this series again are slim to none.

When did it happen? well, i was a good friend of Matt Groening. I say "was" because we haven't talked in almost 7 years! Matt was a very down to earth guy who would occasionally get very anxious. Probably due to the stress of making cartoons and gathering the cast.

During the second season of Futurama, Matt was very unsociable and stoic. Everyday, he'd walked into the studio looking very pale and nervous. Whenever we'd ask him what his problem was, he'd always respond with:

"Nothing, just make the damn episode so it could be done and other with"

This would make some of the employees quite agitated and apoplectic over Matts behaviour. Some described him as very humourless and an overall boring person, while other described him as a happy-go-lucky guy when he wasn't writing cartoon episodes.

One day, Matt didn't show up to the studio. Like, at all. This really concerned me, as i'd always see matt every morning. One of the female staff members thought that he was just having a sick day, but my co-boss said that it was much more than just a ordinary run of the mill sick day.

Apparently, Matt was so afraid at one of his episodes that he immediately passed out on his bedroom floor. This made me affrighted! Matt was pretty old at the time which made me fear for his health and his life.

When i came into the studio after my lunch break, everyone looked petrified. This wasn't like them at all! usually when we would finish an episode, the cast would be cheering and laughing. But this was new to me. I tried to ask what happened, but nobody answered me.

When i got back to my office, a note suddenly slid under a door with a disc attached to it. It said:

"Hi, it's Matt. Listen, i've been having a few panic attacks these past few weeks. Which is why you won't see me at the studio for a while, i have been having nightmares about the characters i made dying. Please, help me. Watch this video to find the truth behind the animation genius behind myself"

The letter scared me. But, scared or not, i was curious to see what the DVD was about. Maybe he's right, maybe it is about the main characters dying horrible deaths and the show ending.

I popped the Disc into my DVD played which is built into my computer and began to watch.

What i saw, blew away my expectations out of the river.

The episode almost immediately started. there were no previews, no menu, no nothing. There was a 10 second loading screen, but that was about it.

It started with a black background with the text "Futurama Special Episode" in red text with sinister sounding music playing in the background. The normal theme song played in reverse, which made the vibe much creepier.

The screen then changed to the title card. Strangely, it was titled "I'm So Sorry"

I started to get a little nervous. With a title like "I'm so sorry" You'd expect something like Bender actually causing the world to end or Fry accidentally going back to the present and not taking anyone with him.

The first scene showed Fry and Bender were playing video games.

"Wow, this game is awesome"

"It sure is fry, and it's more awesome than your Weiner could ever be!"

"Shut up! at least i actually have a weiner"

"I do too!"

"Do not"

"Do too!"

"Do not"

"Do too!"

"DO NOT!"

"DO TOO!"

From here on it seemed like a normal comedic episode of Futurama. It seemed to focus on jokes about Fry and his weiner and Bender just being a smartass. And the creepy stuff in the intro was just a cold opening. And I even thought it was in honor of halloween.

"How about we stop talking about my weiner and play another round?"

"Sure. You're on!"

The two continued to play the video game...while the audio with Bender and Fry arguing about his weiner plays on repeat for some reason. As if Matt didn't bother to add any more dialogue.

Here's when the episode gets really disturbing.

Bender and Fry get angrier and angrier and they began smashing the buttons on the controllers. They start twisting the joystick out of anger, and a bloodthirsty look appears on Fry's face.

Bender wins another round of what seems to be a futuristic version of F-Zero. Fry is obviously pissed at this, and he starts to confront bender.

"You're obviously cheating, Bender. You unplugged my controller from the system"

"Did not!"

"Did f**king too! look at it, it's literally unplugged! are you blind?!"

"No, but i'm not as blind as you. Guy with a small Weiner"

Fry's voice started to fill with Menace.

"Say that again..."

"Guy. with. a. small. WEINER!"

Fry then lunged at bender and started to fight Bender. It started off cartoonish with many choppy punches and kicks. Then, unexpectedly, Fry finds water and pours it inside of Bender's stomach. Bender starts to hyperventilate and gag, before he falls to the ground. Bender starts to thrash rather violently and starts to foam at the mouth. His eyes glitch rapidly, and black ooze begins to drip from his antenna. He eventually dies.

Zoidberg and Leela run into the room to see the corpse of Bender. They start to cry and scream, as Fry watches in sadness and confusion. Leela then points to Fry and says:

"You son of a b*tch! we knew it was you!"

"I swear to god, it wasn't me"

"Yes it was, you sick bastard!"

"Listen, Leela. Bender must've had an accident. Maybe he drunk too much alcohol"

Fry then starts to hug Leela. But Leela pushes him away.

"Don't you touch me, you sick psychopath"

Fry then walks over to Bender's dead corpse and says:

"Bender, dude. I'm so sorry that i let this happen to you. Maybe if you let me win just one game, it'll help you sa-"

"SORRY DOESN'T CUT IT!"

Fry starts to walk away with guilt. He walks up to his bedroom, turns the light off and tries to sleep. Unfortunately, all he could think of is Bender dying because of him. Due to the scarring event, he is unable to sleep. The screen focuses on his face, and the screen changes from a DVD format to a VHS format.

Fry, still trying to sleep, blocks out the noise of the crying. There was an image of the entire cast mourning Benders death flashing across the screen.

Fry seemed to get more and more depressed, then he started to think about some rather violent fantasies. Such as Killing Zoidberg, Gutting the Professor etc.

He got an idea, and went down to the kitchen.

Leela was waiting there, presumably ready to lecture him. But she didn't really say anything, neither did Fry. He just had the look of an enraged killer on his face.

Fry starting to approach Leela with his fists out, ready to beat the living shit out of her.

Again, what happened succeeded my expectations.

Fry pulled Leela by the hair and started to smash her face into some broken glass. Then, he swung her around and threw her into the television.

"Fry, stop. This isn't the way"

He then mauled her on the neck and started to fire a laser at her forehead. The laser burned through her flesh and her body started to melt into a puddle. Some vital fluids could be seen on her face and her arms were deformed.

Zoidberg came in to see what was going on. Fry was now shaking on the ground, due to the disgusting sight of Leela's dead body. Zoidberg ran out of the room, crying.

The episode finally ended as the screen faded to black.

To this day, i can't believe that Matt would make such a disturbing episode about one of the funniest cartoon shows ever. I've tried emailing Matt about this, but he still hasn't replied yet.

Trust me, he will sooner or later.
