Gears of Horror.exe

Everybody who owns an Xbox has either played or knows about Gears of War. Gears of War is an iconic third person shooter franchise that, without any spoilers regarding the plot, centers around humans fighting against an army of underground monsters known as the Locusts. But that's a different story, what I want to discuss is a disturbing tale that will forever ruin your love of Gears of War. I was an intern at Xbox Game Studios. I mostly did stuff akin to checking for malware and hacks that ruin multiplayer games. One particular day, I browsed some Xbox hacks with one of them being called "Gears of Horror.exe". I knew immediately this was some typical creepypasta thing. I launched it, and I knew it was some backdoor considering my virus checker didn't work. Then again, I knew I could report it to my higher ups. The first thing that opened up that genuinely scared the crap out of me was the logo. It was a twist on the skull in gear logo that had the face of this terrifying hyper realistic Patrick Star thing. It moved its mouth like some weird deepfake thing and said, "My name is EVIL PATRIXXX! Let's play Gears of Horror!". Then, out of nowhere, it cut to the menu which was just a black screen with all the options. There was no way to start a new campaign game nor load one, the only option was multiplayer. It then cut to a map that resembled the Xbox Game Studios building I worked at, except it was dark and empty. My teammates were all the same, typical helmeted soldiers you see throughout the games. There didn't seem to be any enemies whatsoever, and there was no scoreboard. I heard some eerie ambience too, that sounded like EVIL PATRIXXX's laughter. I was going up the stairway, and I heard a terrible sound.

It was a realistic, bloodcurdling scream from one of my teammates, and the sound of EVIL PATRIXXX laughing at the amount of pain he inflicted. I immediately sprinted to the scene, and I was utterly shocked. Yes, Gear of War is pretty gory, but the gruesomeness of the scene was off the charts. The dead teammate was completely disemboweled and dismembered, with blood and entrails all across the floor. I looked at his dead, still bleeding eyes, and upon closer inspection, was the terrible face of EVIL PATRIXXX! I screamed so loud that I fell back from my chair. Then, I noticed that the studio was closed and it was nighttime. What on earth happened? Then, I found myself carrying the lancer assault rifle. I found EVIL PATRIXXX, I took him by surprise and managed to cut him in half with the chainsaw bayonet. I laughed hysterically for a few minutes, and I was sprinting to the exit. However, I sat the split in half EVIL PATRIXXX corpse behind me, and it went back to normal with relative ease. EVIL PATRIXXX then went up to my ear, and said "WAKE UP!".

I woke up in my house, and immediately crawled towards the bathroom while screaming. Everything I told you was just a nightmare that felt so real and was so horrifying. I was relieved that none of it was real, yet I never felt safe again.
