Halo: Reach The Lost Map
I was big fan of the game Halo:Reach. It was an amazing game, but not anymore.
That damn game is done for me.
It all began on the third of August. Me and my friend were simply Forging,when he told me that if he held down the start and up buttons at the same time,a secret map would be unlocked.It sounded cool,so I did the button input.
It was called FORBIDDEN.MAP. We figured it was a test map,since Reach had been in the making for two years, although the name was odd. I selected the map,and it took five seconds to load, as usual.That is when the strange things began happening.
The entire sky was black.I had set it up so we had Plasma Repeaters with infinite ammo,but we had a number for the ammo reserve instead.It was 666.I spawned a Sniper Rifle and it still had 666.It was strange.
The land was grassy,but it seemed dull and lifeless.There seemed to be a platform in the sky.
I flew me and my friend up using a Falcon, and there was a platform made out of dice.Bungie had the weirdest sense of humor.
There was a pad that said PRESS X TO OPEN GOODBYE.
"This is getting strange."I thought.When I pressed it,we were seemingly teleported to Lone Wolf. I wore the Mark IV helmet, and it was smeared with blood.
We each had no weapons.We could only melee,so we killed the nearest grunts and jacked their needlers.
The weapons had no ammo,which was strange.We survived for about five minutes using turrets and our fists,but the cutscene was different.
When Noble Six threw his helmet off, there was an etching on the helmet that said YOU ARE GONE and it was very clear.As my character was wrestled to the ground,instead of fighting,he was getting torn apart maliciously.I could see his head get torn off,and it was VERY realistic looking.
The final cutscene had a demonic rumble instead of Halsey's voice,and my helmet was mutilated.
When the credits came on,it was all six of the Noble Team members getting killed maliciously over and over again.
I began to vomit. My friend was sobbing to himself over the microphone.
We were teleported to the map FORBIDDEN, armed with bloody energy swords.
My objective said "KILL",and just kill.I ran towards my friend,and his spartan's head was sent flying as a result.
I had NEVER seen Halo like this once.
As soon as he died,I could hear a thump over the microphone.And a slight demonic whisper in Noble Six's voice. It said: "are you happy now?"
I am going to try and detail the conversation as best I can without losing myself.
Me:Hello,Eddie,you there?
Voice:EDDIE ISN'T HERE NOW
Me:What do you mean?Is this a joke?
Voice:EDDIE ISN'T HERE BECAUSE YOU KILLED HIM
Me:What are you talking about?
Voice:YOU KILLED HIM
Me:*leaves party*
The following week,I got a message from his brother that he had been beheaded at about 11:00 last week on Saturday, the exact time I killed him in game. I was sobbing to myself,and I, all of a sudden, I just felt the need to pop in Reach.
When I popped it in,I was redirected to the same map.
I got a party invite from my friend,who was now deceased.
I heard his voice,which sounded heavenly almost,"why did you do thatwhydidyoudothatwhydidyoudothatwhydidyoudothat"
I was crying furiously at that point,and I was furious. At Bungie, and at myself.
I pulled Reach out and snapped it in two.
I have no longer recieve any party invites from my friend, and have not played a Halo game since.
On one final note,every single multiplayer game has a map titled FORBIDDEN.MAP
I never select it, and never will.
