Happy the Bear

I am a father. I have two wonderful kids who I love very much, I just hate the shit they watch on TV. Playhouse Disney, PBS but mostly, Nick Jr. God, I hate that. Although, I do remember watching this one show that scared me half to death.

It was on April 3, 2002. I heard a new show was coming out that was titled "Happy the Teddy Bear" and it was told to be a love filled teddy bear that teaches kids about fire safety and bullies. It later came out that summer, FINALLY! I turned it on and got a teddy bear singing, "What will we learn to-day? Let's get together and say, BE HAPPY!" It was horrible. It started with him saying, "Have you ever played with a knife?" I thought the creators were going for some, like, "Bobble the Clown" or, "Happy Appy" sort of thing. He continued "Then I bet your legs are chopped off, and your bleeding half to death." WTF? I did what any sane person would do and turned off the TV. But it wouldn't turn off!

He then started pulling out a knife and said, "Sounds like fun," and he started chopping his legs off, and I bet you're guessing just stuffing came out, but no. There was real human blood, and this was a cartoon, FOR KIDS NO LIES! Then his bunny friend "Jerry Harey", came by to see how Happy was doing. Happy pulled out a hammer and hit him on the head until he passed out. Jerry woke up in a lab with bloody hooks everywhere. Happy came in and said, "Do you like to be skinned alive?" but before giving Jerry time to speak, Happy pulled out his knife, and literally SKINNED JERRY ALIVE! What kind of kid show is this? He then cut Jerry's arm off and actually ATE it! My kids left. They were crying in their room, I could finally turn the TV off. I will never forget that horrible night. Whenever I see Wow Wow Wubzy or Dora the Explorer, I always think of that bloody teddy bear torturing his friend.
