Hello?
I can't really explain it. Call this "ghost" or "hack", I call it nothing.
One year ago, I was bored as heck, so I turned on my laptop. However, I thought every game on my computer was boring, or either losing interest for me. So, I thought I might as well download some DS games. I don't know how to take screenshots on an emulator, so sorry about that. Being a big fan of music, I decided to install Elite Beat Agents, the game where you tap on the circles when the circles around them... Never mind, it's hard to explain. Anyways, I downloaded it from a site I found while searching on Google. The site looked OK, just that it looked weird. The site's name was "RomHell". Oddly enough, the logo was recognizable enough, but extremely distorted. It was a crimson red sign saying "Rom Hell" with a space between. There were twists everywhere though, and strangely, the height of the word "Hell" was near half of the word "Rom". I ignored that though, as it was one of the only sites I knew.
After clicking on the download link, the download started. The download was an extremely small file. 2KB. Amazing. After loading it up on a DS emulator, it literally skipped to the difficulty screen. There were all the four difficulties, yes. But there was a fifth one.
"Killing".
I was actually more glad than scared. I thought it was a challenge difficulty. Thinking it would be easy, I clicked it. Oh my god. The agents, they were the 3 guys from the second difficulty. They smiled demonically. There was no more blue background, but it literally looked like the texture from, if I'm not wrong his name was Agent J, but it looked like the entire background was his face, but it was bleeding. There was a gigantic cut on his face, which didn't look too deep. Oh, yeah. The game didn't look THAT realistic, but the only thing which looked realistic, were the blood, the cut, and that he wasn't even wearing his sunglasses any more. His eyes were completely shaded BLACK. He was smiling, and the 3 guys including him that stand there? Yeah, they were all smiling just demonically.
Don't say I didn't warn you, but I literally vomited after I clicked the button which said "Yes".
The globe which you usually get to drag around? It was just a black space, and the select stage screen was like the globe, just not the same. I dragged it around, but it wouldn't let me. The baby-sitting stage at the start was still there, though. I was literally stuck to where I was at during this point of time. After turning on the stage, everything was normal, but the soundtrack, you know, the "dun dun dun dun dun dun" kind of thing that plays during the short little digital comic that shows the story line? Nope, not static. Nope, not mute. It was literally some kind of hoarse-voiced man saying, "Hell... Hello...? Hello...?" The comic froze at one point, and the man stopped saying "Hello?", but rather some strange kind of funeral music replaced it. This went on for 15-20 minutes, and you want to know why I was literally just sitting there doing nothing? I was horrified. I tried to "x" out the emulator, but it didn't work. I tried using task manager, but it wouldn't open. Even shutting down the laptop didn't work. So I sat and looked at the battery bar. What the fuck? It was still 100% even though I swore, that before I had downloaded the program the battery bar was at 46% when I checked.
After the comic unfroze, the level started. The top screen, was normal, just that the faces of the characters looked REALLY depressing. They looked as if a relative or a close one had just died. The last strip of the comic (With the girl and the guy in it), however, guess what they said? Firstly, the girl said, "He thinks this is a challenge." Then, the guy who looks like, I guess you call him a "jock" or something, but i'm not sure, anyhow, he said, "Hello?"
My heart was in my neck by now. I quickly clicked "Skip" and the level started. The bar at the top which usually says "Yes" or "!" or "!!", it said "Hello?"
There it was again. Hello? here, Hello? there. I thought it was a hack by then. Then came the bottom. The 3 agents who dance? Oh god how. There was literally loads of blood splattered near onto all of their clothes. Holy shit my christ, the next part was a killer. Every single pixel, near every single pixel was covered in beat circles. How I managed to not lag surpasses me.
I tried not to die, I tried. I tapped every pixel I could. My efforts were to no avail as I watched the bar go from "Hello?" to "Hello?" to "Hello?". The screen then faded to black.
I watched the screen with my mouth wide open. There was some sort of whispering going on behind the screen. I watched in terror as the black faded to an image. There was an image of a crimson red sign... saying...
"Hello?"
Oh hell no. I slammed down my laptop and threw it out of my window. I was going insane. I sat on the couch, thinking about what I had just experienced. It was gone now. It was gone. What if it comes back? I tried to forget all of it and just try to think that it was just a hacked rom. I hoped it was. I hoped.
I was going crazy. Insane. Demented.
No, no... Probably a hacked rom. Don't think too much of it, I say to myself.
Then it came. I don't know how, but it did. Then came the box from the window. The window shattered into a million pieces. I didn't give a shit, I was just glad what I had just experienced was over. The box, however... Inside lay a piece of sandpaper... With a message with what was either coffee... or blood... What was written on it...
"Hello?"
