A man, named Daniel, was at his house, awake as ever, browsing the web and reminiscing of his 90s childhood. The time was 12:21 AM. But he wanted to relive the 90s, just for one night. He looked, and looked, for the video that would suit his needs. He looked through the countless Rugrats and Ren and Stimpy clips, looking for a great, preferably complete one. But he then stumbled upon a 15 minute long video on some obscure video hosting site titled, "hithere.wmv".

He reluctantly and skeptically clicked the link. It looked like it was on a mirror of YouTube, but with inverted colors and random Asian scripts. Daniel clicked play, and to his surprise, it was simply 15 minutes of white noise. But he listened closer. He heard a low voice saying "Hiiiiiiii theeeeeeeeeeeere..." with heavy echo. Daniel was a little creeped out by this voice. He went out to the kitchen, to grab himself another soda and have a smoke before returning. He walked shivering down the hall, hoping just to get a drink. But the video echoed in his head, "Hiiiiii theeeeeeere...", becoming louder and louder in his head until it became as clear as day. He scampered to the kitchen, grabbed a Pepsi and sat on his couch. He flipped on the TV, and more static appeared, before he switched to Comedy Central. He tried to relax, but then..."hiiiiiiiii theeeeeeeeere...", something echoed from the hallway. It was quiet, and there was no shadow. Suddenly all the lights went out and the cable flashed to static. Sobbing, shaking and afraid, Daniel tried to sleep.

Daniel woke up, dripping sweat. It was 7:30 AM. The cable was still out, and the power(other than that of the computer)still completely dead. Daniel decided, nothing could possibly be in the computer room. So he went on, slowly walking down the hallway. Every door was closed but that of the computer room. He decided to close the window showing the video, which had apparently looped through the night. He opened up Mozilla Thunderbird, and wrote in the recipient bar, "nick@nick.com".The subject: "hithere.wmv".

He wrote, "Hello, I would like to ask about a video by the name of hithere.wmv. I found it while searching the internet for old Nickelodeon shows, and I was wondering if you had any connection. Signed, Daniel Miller." Daniel waited, in the fetal position, by his computer for weeks, anxious for a reply. At 12:21 PM 3 weeks later, it finally came. They had redirected the message to the Media department. They asked him to describe the video. So he replied, describing the video in terrifying detail.

The message was met with dead silence. A reply turned up 10 months later. The subject: "Re: hithere.wmv". It said something about "him" coming out, and about "trying to keep him in". Daniel didn't read much of it, as his mind went to near insanity over the months. One week after this last email appeared, the body of Daniel James Miller was found cold on the pink carpeting of his computer room. His skin was pale blue, and his arteries seemed to pop out of his skin. And on the monitor of the computer was the only trace of the video left...a looping FLAC file of the video's contents, with a Post-it note on the screen, written in Daniel's handwriting, "Hi there....--F."
