Honk

I was sitting outside of my house on the patio when I heard it. It was like a high pitched honking sort of noise. It didn't seem to be made from a car considering it was too quiet and was coming from the bushes close by. I passed it off as a bird and continued smoking my cigarette.

It was all fine until I heard it again. Only this time, it was a bit louder and more forced. It scared the shit out of me. It even got the dogs in the neighborhood going crazy. It wasn't long until I heard the honk again.

I heard a dog cry in pain. It continued crying and so did the honking. Scared shitless, I decided to call it a night and lock up. I went inside, locked every door and window, and went to sleep.

It felt like mere minutes since I laid down in bed and was about to nod off when I heard the honking outside my window. Reluctantly, I sat up and walked over to the window. I pulled open the blinds but saw no one out there. I turned around and was about to go back to bed when I heard the honk a second time. I looked out the window again and saw nothing. Just as I turned my head, I saw a shadow move in my front yard.

"What the fuck was that?!" I screamed. I grabbed my phone and called 911. I explained to them what was happening and gave them all my information. She had me stay on the line with her.

"..Yeah. It's in my yard. It ran where I can't see it. Send someone to help me. I'm scared shitl-"

Glass shattering. "OH MY GOD! HELP ME!" I yelled into the phone. "Sir, calm down and lock your bedroom door. Help is on the way." I locked the door and moved my bed in front of it. I also moved my dresser to block my window.

"Okay, everything is blocked off. Hurry!"

Just as I finish that sentence, I heard breathing from my closet. Almost shitting myself from fear, I move closer to open it. "I think it's in my room." I tell the operator. "Stay far away and stay safe."

Being stupid, I reach for the handle. I open the door slowly...

HONK!
