If They Don't Exist...

If these stories aren't real
If these creatures don't exist
then why do I lay awake at night
Wondering what that sound was

If Slenderman is fake
If BEN is just a fairy tale
then why am I hiding under covers
Hoping to make it through the night

What was that under my bed?
Is it Jeff? Or maybe the Rake?
Is there some demon in my Wii?
Waiting for my soul to take?

"I'm not a kid anymore,"
I laugh to myself,
"These things exist
no more, than fairies and elves."

Then...why am I afraid
of the darkness and silence?
What is out there in the dark void
Planning to take me to the world beyond?

Maybe some things...
Exist through our fear
Feed upon our fright
Drink from our tears...

Many know this feeling,
Many fear the dark
Perhaps the proof
lies in our minds

Don't be so quick
to dismiss that sound downstairs
Don't be so fast to do away
with that pain in your gut
