Legend of Zelda: Blood Moon Rising

This isn't a stupid internet story. No. This is a true story. A story about my life. And how it was changed forever...

I was just an intern working at Nintendo. I heard they were making a new Zelda game for the then-new Wii. It ended up being Skyward Sword, but originally... it was something much different. A few months later and I was fired from my job. But I heard that there was a delay in the Wii Zelda game. Anyways, I was feeling nostalgic and went to see if there were any Zelda games for sale.

There was a garage sale in town, and the old man there had a disc labeled "Zelda Wii". I asked him where he got it from, and he told me that his son used to work at Nintendo, and brought the disc home one day a few weeks before he died. I bought the disc, and brought it home. I put it in my Wii, and it started up normally. I was surprised to see it worked just fine. It seemed like a legit Zelda game, not just an unfinished prototype.

The intro started. Link was riding on Epona, but it was blurry and far away. As it zoomed in and the screen cleared out, I saw it wasn't Epona... it was a wolf. Link was riding on the back of a wolf. As Link came to a stop, he got off his... steed... and walked toward the camera. Then the screen cut to the logo, "Legend of Zelda: Blood Moon Rising". Kind of a dark title for a Zelda game, but I pressed start.

I started a new file, and it opened with a cut-scene mirroring exactly that of Ocarina of Time's opening, with Navi waking Link, but instead of Navi waking Link, it was a red glowing fairy. As Link waked up, the fairy said, "Link... Hero of Time... your time on this Earth is over... prepare for the end...".

The red fairy shot Link with what looked like a burst of fire, and Link died. The game finally started, and I was Link, walking in a dark, gloomy version of the Kokiri Forest from Ocarina of Time. As I approached Mido, he looked at me with glowing green eyes. A text box appeared, with some strange lines of code. Some zeroes and a few ones, and then at the end it said "RUN PRGM.L"

I pressed A, but then my game crashed. I took it out and put it back in, but the game didn't appear on the Wii menu. I decided to go back to Nintendo and return the disc. What was the worse that could happen?

I walked to the front desk, and told them that I used to work there. I put the weird disc down on the desk, and told the receptionist lady to give it back to whoever's in charge of the prototype discs. She called the guy down, and he walked up to the front disc. He didn't remember me from when I worked there, but I remembered him. His name was Ed, or something.

He looked at the disc, and suddenly a look of shock came to his face. He handed me the disc, and told me to never come back. The receptionist asked him what was wrong, and he just rushed back to his office. I took the disc home, and just put it with the rest of my Wii games.

That night, as I was sleeping, I dreamed of that strange opening cut-scene, with Link riding the wolf. And the red fairy killing him. And the strange, somewhat depressing Kokiri Forest. And that gloomy, slowed down Kokiri Forest music...

I woke up the next morning, and went to make breakfast. As I walked through the living room to the kitchen, I saw the TV was on... and so was the Wii... I saw the red fairy cut-scene from that weird disc playing again. I was getting freaked out. I took the disc, and took it back to the Nintendo place. I told them that something was wrong with it, and they had to take it back. That Ed guy stormed out again. He saw me, and the disc. He took me back to his office, and told me to sit down. He explained to me that the disc was just... broken... and that I shouldn't play it because it was beyond repair.

I didn't believe him. I know glitches happen every now and then, but entire title sequences, worlds, and cut-scenes happening out of nowhere? No way that was just a simple glitch... I told Ed that he was full of it, and took the disc. I just threw it out in the trash, and went back home. I tried to play some games on my Wii, but the console wouldn't turn on. That stupid disc messed up my Wii!

I called Nintendo to complain, but Ed answered.

"Ed---?"

"Listen, kid... that disc... you... you should never have played it..."

"Wha--- WHY? What's WRONG with it?"

"Kid... kid... just listen to me, okay... just listen... back when we were first making the game, one of our programmers... he..."

I heard Ed scream. I heard the phone fall to the ground.

"ED?!"

Someone picked the phone up.

"Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore, While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door."

I hung up.

I was ready to call the police, when I turned around and saw the game was playing on my TV again...

I went to go outside... I didn't feel safe... but, right when I went to open the door....

Someone was knocking on it.

Knocking loud, and quickly, over and over again...

"LET... ME... IN!"
