Love Me... AND ONLY ME
Me and my dad pulled up to Wal-Mart in our van, thinking of what to get. "You can get ONE, and ONLY ONE DS game. Is that clear, Zoe?" My dad asked me. "Okay. When I pick one, I'll meet you at the counter in the game area to buy it." We walked out of the car, and across the parking lot into the large, looming Wal-Mart. When we got inside, I went to the game section and dad went to wait at the game section counter.
As I browsed through the games, one caught my eye. In a shiny silver box, with the picture of Lugia on it, was SoulSilver. I noticed the price was expensive. Still deciding to get SoulSilver, I walked to my dad. "I've been wanting this since it came out! Please dad?" "Fine." He asked a man at the counter to unlock the DS case to get SoulSilver for me. The man walked to the case, keys in hand, and unlocked it. I followed him, and he handed me SoulSilver.
We soon exited the Wal-Mart with SoulSilver in my hands. "Thanks, dad." "You're welcome." I leaned towards him and gave him a big hug. Soon, I was addicted. In that one day, I already made it past nearly HALF of the Johto gyms, with Barry, Embrosia, Duncan, and other Pokemon. Around July, I beat Johto completely. Me and my team of Pokemon were nearly unstoppable! I surfed across a pond to get to Tohjo Falls. Inside, it was dark, and murky. But I wasn't afraid. Barry quickly let me into the water and up the waterfall.
Soon I was outside, and proud. Many trainers tried to block my progress but failed. I traded my Dialga and Palkia from Diamond, both at level 100, to get past the game quicker, to be able to do whatever I wanted easier. Eventually, Red was the last trainer standing to block me from completing the game. I took out half of his team with Dialga, until it was defeated. I then used Palkia to finish him off. I was proud. Victorious. A champion.
I finally felt like trading my level 100 Staraptor, Star, to the game. The normal cutscene played, and everything was normal. I missed her, and wanted to see how she did in battle. Using my action replay, I set up a battle against a level 100 Staraptor, the Pokemon Star is. "Star used FLY! Star soared into the air!" "DITTO used TRANSFORM!"
"What?! I never set it the Pokemon to Ditto! I'll just catch it then..." I threw an Ultra Ball at it, and it shook. Once, twice, three times. CLICK! "STARAPTOR was caught! Name it?" I named it Shifter, since it was part Staraptor, part Ditto somehow. It's level reset to one, suddenly. "This is what I get for using action replay..."
It took days, and weeks to train it to level 100. But I did it. Then, I finally decided to use Star in battle again. "A wild URSARING appeared! Go, Shifter!" Shifter? I was using Star! "Shifter used Brave Bird! It's Super Effective!" I was shocked reading the next line of text. "URSARING died!" Action replay never made things like this happen! What happened to Star?!
I looked at my party, to find Star, with 0 HP, and her status... was DEAD. "What did you do to Star?!" I yelled at Shifter. To my surprise, Shifter replied. "You trained me from level 1 to 100, without action replay. So, I killed Star, so you'll love me. AND ONLY ME." "But I love all my Pokemon the same!" "Not anymore Zoe!" How did he know my real name? My trainer was named Silv!
I got on my bike, and went to the Pokemon center. "Okay... turn on... BILL'S PC... deposit... RELEASE!" "Shifter refuses to go!" "RELEASE!" "You can't get rid of me. You know you love me!!!" I turned off the game, hoping the data would be gone, since I had been charging my DS while training him, never saving. Turning the game back on, it went right back to where I turned it off. The Pokemon center was empty, with skulls where NPCs stood. In my PC, it was the same. Skulls where Pokemon once were. In my party, there were skulls too. In all spaces except for Shiter's.
"Like what I did while you were gone? I killed everyone who wasn't a trainer... and destroyed all Poke Marts, and stole your Poke Balls. Now you can only battle. You love me. And only me." I noticed he missed a master ball in my bag. "Okay Shifter. But you need a rest. You can return to your Poke Ball for now." "Okay, Zoe." He referred to me with my real name again. I quickly went to where Mareeps were, and caught one. It was male, and I named him Duncan. I gave him the Light Orb item. Duncan was back!
While Shifter was resting, I trained Duncan to level 100 in a matter of days, since he somehow had boosted EXP. Checking his Summary, I noticed his sprite had a yellow cape. I read his summary out loud. "Duncan, the Hero Ampharos. Stats are maxed out, like Shifter. Ability is Hero, 'Hero Ampharos is unable to be killed, or deleted, by Shifter.' Moves are Charge Beam, Power Gem, Thunder Punch, and Signal Beam."
I heard Duncan and Shifter's cries. Exiting out of the menu, I noticed something. Champion battle music came on. "Shifter attacked! Go, Duncan!" Duncan's backsprite had a cape, too. "Duncan used Thunder Punch! Shifter used Brave Bird!" The battle was long, it took nearly an hour! The screen went black as soon as Duncan and Shifter's HP both went to red. "You tried to kill me... to take Zoe's love of all Pokemon away. Why?" "She trained me from 1 to 100 in a matter of weeks. I want her to love me, and only me."
I gawked at the next chain of events. "The rest of you are only just sprites. But I'm real. Just watch!!!" "Fine then." My DS flew out of my hands, as a real blood-covered Staraptor, and a caped Ampharos came out of it. Shifter picked me up in his talons and flew into the living room, and out of the house. "You will love me, and ONLY me." "DUNCAN! HELP!" I cried for help. Duncan flew out of the house, somehow, and used Thunder Punch on Shifter.
He dropped me, which squawking in pain, and Duncan carried me to the ground. They fought hard, but never gave up. Hours later, Shifter fell to the ground, and whispered to me, "Love me... if I let you love others... please..." A full revive flew out of my DS, and out my window. I cracked it open, and dumped the powdery inside into Shifter's mouth. "Thank you... and now..." Shifter grabbed me and flipped me onto his back. "Love me... AND ONLY ME!!!" "Zoe... I'm sorry but... I'll have to kill Shifter." "Fine with me!" Shifter carried me off, at full speed. Duncan chases after him, shooting out his attacks.
Suddenly, a shadow slashed it's claws across Shifter's face, temporarily blinding him. He crashed into a tree, and I grabbed one of the branches. A real furret curled around me, comforting me. "Barry... you're back!" "I blinded him by using shadow claw on his eyes." Barry's soothing voice made me feel braver. "How.. DARE YOU!!! I'll have to gouge my eyes out now, since their useless now!! Zoe!! STOP LOVING THEM... I AM YOUR ONLY LOVE!!"
Barry shot a dark pulse into his mouth. Duncan shot a final Power Gem. Slowly, Shifter collapsed onto the ground, dead. "We need to go back into the game. I'll restore the rest of your Pokemon while you sleep. It's getting late." Duncan picked me and Barry up, and flew back to my house. He and Barry went into my DS, and it saved itself, then turned off. I fell asleep, dreaming of the chaotic battle. But somewhere, deep inside me, knows this isn't the last I'll see Shifter.
