So I've been a huge fan of Pokémon, and I learned how to read from my old Pokémon yellow copy that i got at a young age. I constantly had to ask my mother to describe the sentences that were in the game so i was forced to play as often as possible (still I do not dislike the game or story). A few weeks ago I was playing my Pokémon Black Version when a friend of mine mentioned some guy named BlameTruth and that he found some strange hacks in the game. Naturally out of my curiosity and love for the series i looked it up and quickly became absorbed into the creepy and unexplainable aspects that people had found in the game and of course the famous Lavender Town Syndrome (LTS).

"Well, why not try to see if there was anything strange I didn't notice in my old games", I thought to myself. I pulled out my Pokémon Blue, Yellow, and Crystal. Sadly to my dismay the battery for the save files in my Crystal game died so I had to restart the whole game from scratch. Well I made it there in all the games except for yellow. I hadn't gotten fly yet because I forgot to grab it from the hidden house just outside of Celedon City so I was walking there when I remembered I had an Eevee to get. I started my journey and I went into the building leading to the roof and some very strange things happened during the time i was inside of the building.

Well I noticed some extremely weird thing's the moment I stepped in the building for instance the NPC sprites were very strange and there were some NPC's that weren't even supposed to be there. At that moment I realized that Pikachu was an NPC, so I looked at his sprite and pressed the A button and he had an expression on his face that they don't program into the Pokémon Yellow Versions or not that i have knowledge of at least. He was crying not just sad or angry but sobbing it sent shivers down my spine because I had seen the sprite of him tearing up but this was different it is hard to explain, so I kept playing because I was intrigued by the fact that I had lived so long without even noticing these kinds of occurrences in any game let alone a children's game.

I got to the top floor and outside Blue's(Gary) sprite was standing there instantly my character whom I named Red approached him and a battle commenced. It stated PKMN Trainer Blue want's to battle like normal and i beat him though strangely the only Pokémon he had was his Raticate and Jolteon I over came him easily but his after battle dialogue was simply "Blue:....." and I thought that this was weird because he is usually a talkative NPC. Despite my frustration at the game I continued into the house on the roof and to be honest what I saw wasn't scary at all in fact it looked exactly like it should.

I grabbed the Pokeball of the table named it Eon as I do with my first Eevee as I become easily bias towards it them the man in the building with me challenged me to a battle. I sent out Eon to my surprise as he was last in my party but it came to my attention that somehow all of my Pokémon had met with a surprising status ailment it said DTH by there names which I don't recall being a common status ailment I assumed they were dead due to the paleness and all together loss of life in there sprites. He sent out Vaporeon with half Hp left and it seemed like it was lost. I overcame him with minimal damage to Eon despite my hesitant nature, after the battle ended the trainer I had battle said "You with all you have with all you've done you come back here expecting something from me" then it blacked out and he was gone, I sat and thought to myself for a while. To this day this game has shaken me beyond my core, I pay respect to the past in a new light.

I now play Pokémon to this day but I feel lost inside, like something I once had is now gone forever, be it my security or just my sense of faith in myself that what I'm doing is right.
