So, here is my story about encountering a "cartridge" of Sonic 1.

I was playing some Sonic 2 on my Sega Genesis that I recieved for christmas, I was in Mystic Cave trying to beat the boss when I heard a knock on the door.

I paused the game and went to my door, opened it, and saw a box, and inside of it was a cartridge of Sonic 1, but the cartridge's front image seemed different.

Sonic's expression looked sad and depressed, almost like a suicidal teenager.

And the background was cloudy.

Thinking this was just the incorrect image label, I popped Sonic 2 out of my Genesis and put the game on.

Oh boy, what a mistake.

The SEGA title screen had dust on it, like it has been under a bed for 3 weeks.

Unfortunately, I could never take a screen shot of it.

Later I thought to plug the game into my PC using a cable that I had made.

Now that I had the ability to manipulate screenshots, I continued to play the game.

The title screen had no one to be seen, only green, dirty water and the logo.

I decided to start the first level, but instead of Green Hill.. it said: Nightmare.

The level's sky was gray, and depressing.

Sonic could not run.. it was like he wanted to end his life.

The level looked like Green Hill.. but there were no rings, no badniks, nothing, it felt unnerving..

Later on, Sonic walked up on the cliff where the yellow spring was, looked over and sobbed while crouching.

Sonic then got up, and jumped off, ending his life.

It mortified me, seeing my favourite video-game character from the Sonic franchise commit suicide.

I felt guilty of the death of a video-game character, and then there was a screen popup saying: I'm sorry.

The game popped out and I got depressed, only because of a single cartridge.
