Oasis Mirage

Hey, I'm Azul... (It's kind of a Portuguese name, but I'm not Portuguese.)

The day started normally, like any other day, but not too long ago, I was searching through a holiday book, because I wanted to go on a holiday with my family, plus it was my 17th birthday.

So anyway, I found a holiday that my mum could afford: it looked interesting. My mother agreed that me, and my sister Sam (WTF, she gets the normal name) could go on this trip. It was in the desert.

Since I don't want to get into too much detail, I will skip the week of me waiting, the long cab trip to the inner city airport, and going through customs and taking off on the plane. When we took off the ground, a plane assistant came up to me and stared at me. Her eyes started turning red with blood, then to black. In fear I backed up when she put her hand out. I looked at what was in her hands and it was a bag of peanuts, I looked up at her face, and her eyes were normal, and she asked if I wanted more nuts. Thinking about what happened and also catching my breath I declined, and looked out the window. After a while it started to get boring on the plane, and I eventually ended up going to sleep.

In the morning we arrived at the airport. I hopped off, and went through, yet another set of customs, got in a cab, and went to the nearest town to settle in. In this town, we found a nearby motel that we stayed in. The streets and buildings were dirty and sandy, but inside it wasn't so bad. We put our belongings into a safe, and went out to explore the town. After a while we figured that the town wasn't so big, and planned that we could go off, and do whatever we wanted to do, and meet back up in 2 hours at the motel. My sister Sam and I walked around for a bit after going into an open church. No one was in there, except a figure in the room that Sam pointed out. It seemed like a human... Pointing at me. I walked up to get a closer look and it seemed like the person had bloody eyes. I thought it was happening to me again, and as I started to panic, I saw a light like I was going to faint. The man slowly turned into a Christ statue holding a book.

My sister said she did not see any of what I saw, and I thought it was just a desert mirage or something, but I thought it was best to go tell my mum, so I went back to the motel, with Sam following behind me. Strangely, when I got back to were the motel was meant to be, it was gone. It was confusing to me, as it would be to anyone. The whole building had vanished. When I turned my back, Samantha was gone too! I was twisting, and turning in confusion, and started walking out were the motel used to be, and didn't stop for what seemed to be hours, and the town was no where to be seen. I wasn't clear on what I was doing, it was like my mind 'had a mind of its own' and was controlling me. I kept on walking until the sky filled with darkness and the moon turned yellowish white. I found a dark place to spend the night. It looked like a cave or something. So I went in checked if nothing else lived there and went to sleep.

After a long uncomfortable night of tossing and turning from the sounds of night wolves, and visions of their gouging eyes I finally awoke, and to a bright blue sky with the sun that makes the clouds look like balls of fire. Outside the cave it seemed that my eyes were lying to me, but it wasn't that I couldn't see water and two palm trees. I didn't hesitate to jump into that cool water. It was fresh too, so I drank a lot to keep me hydrated. When I gathered a lot of water in a bottle, I started walking towards were I thought the town was. When the sun had leaned towards my back, and I had walked across the sandy desert I could see figures such as people, icecream trucks, a grassy parks and houses.

My eyes started to fog up, seeing the streets of my hometown, and were I lived before getting in that desert. I walked around, what I thought was the desert avoiding obstacles like cars and fences which seemed so real in my mirage, I came up to my house and stared at it. I walked towards it and opened my front door, it felt so real. I walked upstairs sat down on my computer chair, went on creepypasta and wrote this story. Its really hot and the mirage of my home, and my computer and everyone around me feels real but now I must go in search of the town were my family went missing in the dessert, of which I cannot name to make sure you guys do not go there and witness what I'm still through this very second.

Mirages can be so believable. They can show things so real, that you don't know what is real anymore.
