The story surrounding Hollow man is a complex one, it's said it all started around the time of the Vikings. When the Vikings first came to North America, they brought with them, a little boy. This is where the story gets twisted. The little boy was the son of a dishonored leader, and was being punished for defending his father.

After early buildings were established, plans were made for what they would do, they didn't want the father's so-called 'Cursed Blood' ruining their land, but banishment didn't seem to be a cruel enough punishment. The new comers came up with a sinister plan: having the natives deal with their problem.

The plan was set in motion; the new comers produced a fair amount of problems for the natives and blamed it on the father and son. The new comers sent the son and father out, where they were thought to be killed. The father was indeed slain, but the son was able to get the truth through to them.

As the Vikings arranged to build an actual village, the natives attacked, and chased them out. The child was hailed as a hero, a god, of sorts. They begged the child to save them from a beast hiding in the cave. It had been terrorizing the village for years, and the natives were to afraid to do anything. The child agreed to help, and traveled to the cave.

Inside, it was pitch black, the torch's light only went a foot in front of him, which was obviously unnatural. The boy entered a cavern, which he guessed was quite large. The boy cried out, daring the beast to come and challenge him, and out from the darkness, came a girl. She wore a long, black dress, and when she touched him, the boy felt as if he had turned to ice. She laughed and asked why the boy had come to the cave, to her home, to that the child was too scared to reply.

She told the boy that the question was rhetorical, and stated that she knew why he was here, to which the boy's fear only grew. She knew he wasn't going to do anything, so she lowered herself to his height, smiling, and told him that she could give him immortal life, power, and wisdom. She proposed that with here help, he could become a god. The boy thought it over, and regaining control of his body, he agreed.

But what happened next was not to be expected, the girl shoved her hand into the child's chest and began pulling, pulling at something inside him. The boy screamed in anguish, the pain acting like little hands, grabbing, pulling, ripping at the very fibers of his being. Then, as the girl's hand finally exited the boys chest, it was gripping his soul. The girl... ate...the boy's soul, and replaced it with the darkness that was enclosing them.

The boy was no longer a boy, he was a creature made of pure shadows, with no soul, just a hollow crevice. The informed Hollow man that she was not immortal, and that one day she would die, and that's why it was essential that he brought her a man she could procreate with, so that her lineage would continue on, and if he did good, he would get his soul back.

That is who hollow man is and what his purpose is in life. Every 20 years a daughter is born, and once she is of suitable age, the parents are killed, by the hand of their servant, and the child takes control. The cycle will never end, not until the entire human race is destroyed.
