Petz 000
Author's note: Written in 2014. I die inside every time I think about this story.
One day, I was in my bed, on my computer watching failcompilations. As soon as one of the videos ended and I had a good laugh, I minimized it and decided to go fetch some Cheetos; that was until I noticed the browser Petz 5 on my desktop tucked into a corner. I haven't played that game in years. I was 16, and I think the last time I played it was when I was 10 or something.
So, just for the sake of it, I double-clicked on the browser and it showed the normal loading screen with the cats and pugs. When it finished loading, I was in the living room.
I clicked on "Pick a Pet" and noticed I had 11 pets. I couldn't remember how many I had until I went on Petz 5. I took out an Orange Shorthair named Tinkerbell, who started twitching violently. I wasn't sure if that was normal until I read what it said at the bottom of the screen about Orange Shorthairs. It said they were apparently very skittish. Then I took out a Chihuahua named Cutie. All was well for a minute, until I decided to go to a different playscene. As soon as I clicked the "Go To" button, my computer screen became all black. Did my computer crash or something? I peeked at the computer's tower, and everything was just fine. The light on it that determined it was on, sleeping, or off was still bright blue. (that meant it was on.)
So I was a bit creeped out. But after a few seconds, the Petz 5 loading screen came up out of nowhere. It was normal, but instead of saying "Dogz 5 Catz" it said "PETZ 000". And in the loading bar where it usually has a little quote or pep talk, there jumbled up numbers and letters. I was starting to get really scared, so I turned off the computer, but the Petz 5 loading screen was still on my screen, and it was still loading. I wanted to call my dad, but something stopped me. I just kept sitting, staring at the screen waiting for the game to load. After about 10 minutes of so, it finally loaded. I was in the living room. There was nothing in playscenes appearing, there were only two; Living Room and a weird playscene called 33rGel. The icon for the weird one was pitch black. Out of curiosity, I clicked on 33rGel, and it took me to what looked like a cemetery. It had 11 headstones, I noticed. I clicked on "Pick a Pet" and only two showed up; a Black Labrador with all black eyes named 444 and a Dachshund puppy named Pappy. I took out Pappy, who didn't have a walking animation. What also didn't make sense was that Pappy was the reccomended name for PAPILLONS, and this puppy was a Dachshund.
He motionlessly hovered around the screen, but still looked around. He didn't bark whatsoever. Then a speech bubble appeared above him, and in the speech bubble it said "11 dead". Probably explained the 11 headstones, and the disappearance of my 11 pets. Then the text in the speech bubble changed, and it said "don't do it". Don't do what? As I motioned my cursor over to the second "Pick a Pet" button, the text in the bubble became all caps. "DON'T DO IT" it said. I took out the lab named 444, who did have a walking animation. His barks sounded staticy though, and his pitch black, empty eyes kind of scared me. As he walked out of the red door, he stared at me for a moment, then walked over to Pappy. "don'T do iT" said the speech bubble above him. 444 (let's call him Four) lunged at Pappy and I watched in horror as he ripped Pappy to shreds, causing realistic blood to splatter all over the cemetery. Then Four swallowed Pappy's corpse whole. Four then stared at me for a couple of seconds and did a hyper-realistic smile. Then the Petz game swithced itself off and so did my computer.
Since then I have never played Petz 5 again.
