Pokemon Lost Episode: Pikachu's Death

Hi, My name is Mark, I won't give out my last name due to privacy issues. Just recently, I have found a lost VHS tape that has a copyright date of 1997, what's weird is on the VHS tape had the English Pokemon logo, but the English version of the Pokemon anime didn't exist until 1998. I found the VHS on eBay for 20 dollars, I won't give the seller's username for reasons below.

After waiting 20 minutes for my 5 year old sister to get off the TV and everyone to leave for my Cousin's birthday, I decided to watch the VHS really late at night while nobody in my house was home, thinking that it would be a normal episode. BOY was I wrong.

The VHS started off with a blue screen with Japanese letters roughly translated: "The following episode of Pocket Mosters has caused people to have extreme nightmares and/or suicide. Watch at your own risk." This message stayed there for 30 seconds, I felt a bit uneasy but I convinced myself that someone hacked the message in.

The episode started with no opening theme, but started off like any normal episode. One thing was really off...Misty, Brock and Ash were nowhere to be seen. Pikachu was still there, but I don't think it was Ash's Pikachu. It looked like a shiny Pikachu with spiky ears. The quality of the episode was pretty bad and this part of the episode looked like the Watercolour effect in Windows Movie Maker, but the quality wasn't bad enough to render it unwatchable. Pikachu was just staring at the screen with big eyes, this lasted for 2 minutes. After this 2 minutes, I heard something. I heard what sounded like a crowd cheering, it got louder every ten seconds. Pikachu finally blinked and turned to see what the noise was, the viewer could see a shadowed crowd and a loud bang was heard, the screen went black.

At this point, I was pretty confused. I didn't get what was happening due to the fact that there was no dialogue and that there wasn't any music playing. But good god this part of the story will stay burned into my mind forever, this is where stuff gets creepy.

Pikachu woke up, and a crowd of Pokemon was ranting loudly around him. I jumped out of my seat and turned down the volume at this part, yes it was THAT loud. But what creeped me out the most is that the crowds noise sounded like it was ripped from a 1940's film. Also I could see an orange hooded figure in the crowd but I couldn't make it out at this point. Pikachu was tied up so he couldn't escape. The Pokemon started burning Pikachus left ear, and you could hear Pikachu screaming, very upsetting. I started to shake a bit but I wanted to see what happened. They started to burn Pikachus right ear, Pikachu screamed even more. The Pokemon crowd around him just laughed and chanted something in Japanese but it was too muffled to make out. The screen went black again.

I was very upset, my heart was pounding very hard. How could the Pokemon creators let this go through? Or even be created? I continued to watch.

The viewer could see a orange hooded figure, but it was blurred for 20 seconds. After the blur went away, I could swear my heart skipped a beat.

It was Kenny Mccormick.

Yes, it was indeed, Kenny Mccormick, the kid that used to die all the time in South Park. I was very shocked and confused, I was wondering how in god's name could a South Park character end up in a show intended for KIDS.

Kenny said something but his parka made it muffled, as usual. With no warning given, he started slashing Pikachu with a kitchen knife. Blood was seen, but Pikachu was strangely silent. He didn't scream, he didn't say anything at all. After 4 minutes of Kenny stabbing and slashing Pikachu's stomach, Pikachu died. A disturbing, realistic image of Pikachu dead was shown for 3 seconds. The crowd noise came again, but this time it was mixed in with Kenny laughing hysterically. The episode then ended with a message in Japanese writing but I couldn't translate it because the words were crudely written.

I turned off the VHS tape and I burned it in my dad's bonfire. I stomped on the remains. I didn't want to be tempted to watch it again or let my sister find this and watch it, she is a big fan of the Pokemon anime and I don't want her to be disturbed for the rest of her life.

I did some research after watching this episode, (I couldn't sleep anyways) and it turns out this episode was aired on a Japanese station in January 1998, which is very strange because Pokemon in at the time was on a 4 month hiatus due to the "Electric Solider Porygon" episode. But it aired on a station that Pokemon normally didn't play on. According to sources, 10 people commited suicide, 6 American's watched this episode, 3 people refused to comment on this episode, It is also reported that it aired at 11:00 pm and got mistaken for a regular Pokemon episode.

I never have watched the Pokemon anime again after this incident. I still play the Pokemon games, I hope to be getting Black 2 for Christmas, knowing that these types of stuff will NEVER happen in a offical Pokemon game...or will it?
