England, Rosebellia Village, June 12, 1866

The Old Grandfather clock's tick can be heard throughout the room each tick making the Heiress bored as time passed by.

Her Name is Sarah Hopkins.

She was destined to make her company –the one that makes oil, art paintings and weapons– the greatest of all. But alas, her life isn't perfect. Her 'father' ruined her and her Mum's lives. She doesn't even know why her mum kept the clock of that man.

Her father loathes her; He never wanted a girl to inherit his riches. He always wanted or rather wished to have a proud and confident son to be by his side.

Sarah gets it; she's a weak, pathetic and frail girl who couldn't even defend herself.

Her father even tried cutting her long, black hair and renaming her into "Sam". This explains why her hair is so unevenly cut. Her mum took her to the parlor to straighten it up; when they both came back her father wasn't very happy. It resulted to another argument.

At nights like these, Sarah couldn't even sleep. The clock's ticking was very annoying, the same tune always being played. It was driving her into the point of insanity. Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock. Sarah clutched her head and clenched her teeth tight. She wanted this all to stop.

But then again, not all people are very lucky to have their wishes granted. Sobs of her mum can be heard, as she heard a loud and painful snap. Her father slapped her Mum.

"Has he no remorse for what he has done?"  Sarah often thought. "Who knows what darkness is lurking around the minds of men."

Sarah watched all other kids play outside. Her parents prohibited her from ever going outside. Her mum thinks of her as a porcelain doll while her father thinks of her as a prisoner, an embarrassment not to be seen nor discovered.

This dark cave of crippling loneliness is one of the reasons driving her mad. She hates this life. She saw her father went out. He was probably seeing that harlot. Sherrie.

This very night is a formal party for showing "The Hopkins' Art Exhibition". The linoleum floor polished, the chandeliers all dusted and washed to the point where you can't see a speck and finally the room was filled with an intoxicating scent of food making the guests even hold their drools.

Her Father waved to the crowd, the light was so bright that you cannot see the new red hickies on his neck definitely caused by her mum, and then he sent a genuine smile at what seems to be a blonde girl at the back of the ball room, also waving back at him.

Her Mum played along, acting like the perfect woman, a role model. And Sarah forced a smile and waved.

In her mind the ticking of clocks can still be heard, making her stressed. The party ended in a flash with so much fake laughter and happiness.

Sarah wanted to have someone to talk to about everything, Her Father, The ticking in her head, that stupid harlot, and how everything is so fake. She fell asleep still hearing the old Grandfather clock in her head.

Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock, Tick, Tock.

Sarah woke up with cheers of happy children and laughter of adults. She went to her window to see what it is all about.

WELCOME

TO

GOLDEN ARC'S CIRCUS!!!

Sarah begged for her father to go there. Surprisingly, He did. They went to the circus all together.

At the circus, they all did tricks, acts and special performances. Sarah watched them clearly envious of their happy lives and the feeling to be free.

Sarah was reading one of her 'Alice in Wonderland' books. She always wanted to get lost in the world of fantasy.

"Hi!" A voice chirped.

Sarah looked up and was surprised to see, Fire Lily. She kept her calm demeanor and examined Fire Lily. She was wearing a blue and pink jester outfit with ruffles, with the hat covering half of her face and golden, blonde locks showing and her emerald, green eyes that shone happiness and sadness at the same time.

"So you must be Sarah Hopkins, eh? Heard a lot 'bout you!" Fire Lily continued. Sarah stared at her bored and not really sure what to do in the situation. Fire Lily quickly decided to change the topic and get to the point.

"Want to be friends?" Fire Lily asked her.

That question made Sarah's world stop. The ticking louder in her head.

"Friends? With me?" Sarah thought unsure. She saw Fire Lily's eyes sadden and lost for a bit.

Sarah let out the breath she was holding all along "Sure." She replied. She saw Fire Lily's eyes widen in happiness and in surprise. Fire Lily squeals and hugs Sarah so tight she was carrying her off the ground a bit.

"So, How's life at the circus it must be so fun. Having the opportunity to be, independent." Sarah says lowering her face. "Um... Yeah. It's fun." Fire Lily strains forcing a smile upon her face. Sarah studied her, she was not telling her something.

"Anyway, Life at the circus is great. But the food isn't, all I eat is Mashed potatoes which explain why, I'm like, carrying a bag of potatoes." Fire Lily says gesturing at the bag of potatoes beside a mahogany tree.

Sarah frowns pitying the Jester. She sighs "Come, Follow me."

Sarah leads Fire Lily towards her home. "Woah, Your house is really big." Fire Lily commented. "I get that a lot." Sarah says.

On their way there Catherine -Sarah's Mum- greeted them. "You are really talented, Fire Lily." Her Mum complimented making Fire Lily blush in embarrassment.

The two teens went on and they stumbled upon Sarah's father. Sarah immediately scowled when she sees him, her father did the same. "Sam! What are you doing being acquainted with this Clown?!" Her Father yells.

Fire Lily looked down seemed to be ashamed and Sarah glares at him, "My name is Sarah. Father." She spat, venom laced in her voice. Her father simply ignored her. "Just get out of my sight; I have somewhere else to be." Her father says.

Sarah held Fire Lily's hand and the two quickly scurried away. "Sarah? I don't like your father." Fire Lily says. Sarah sighs "Me too." She said in a soft voice like a gentle breeze.

Each day the two teens will talk with one another saying things to each other that no other people even know. Fire Lily would perform new tricks and acts, Sarah would show Fire Lily all about new things her private teacher taught her.

Fire Lily came to Sarah's mansion one day, looking haggard and tired. Her eyes all red and puffy like she just stopped crying. Fire Lily knocked on the door. Sarah opened the door surprised to see Fire Lily so early.

"Yes, What is it Fire Lily?" Sarah asked her. Fire Lily sniffled and rubbed her eyes.

"Sarah." She said her green eyes not holding the same kind of innocence when they first met. "I'm leaving. I decided going to another town is more fun than being here stuck with you. I was just using you for money, for our Circus. Goodbye."

Fire Lily left leaving Sarah at her doorway, awe struck.

Sarah chased after Fire Lily, in bare foot. As Fire Lily was about to leave, Sarah grabbed her wrist roughly.

"Why?!" She exclaims in anger as tears streamed down her pale face. Icy, blue eyes ferociously staring back at dull, green ones.

Fire Lily pulled her hand back roughly and glared at Sarah, "Listen!" Fire Lily yells annoyed. "Stay away from me! I hate you! I don't want anything to do with you!"

Sarah frowns as Fire Lily turned around and walked away from her going inside a circus cart. "HEEYA!" The horsemen yells as he whipped the mares in their flanks causing them to gallop away from Rosebellia Village.

Sarah grieved.

Her first friend betrayed her, her feet were cold, numbed, red and swollen from all the running. She was cold for she only wore a simple, short, silver, cotton dress. She walked home broken, mentally and physically.

The ticking of clocks louder than ever, as she walked in the old hallways of where she and Fire Lily used to play. What had she done wrong? It's like what her father said.

"It is better having an enemy who slaps you in the face, than a friend who stabs you in the back." Sarah whispered clenching her fist.

Sarah stood there numbed and tired. She can't take any more of this drama. She just wanted for all of this to end, without any pain. No pain at all. Someone knocked on her door. "Come, in." Sarah mumbled loud enough to hear, yet soft enough for her throat not to ache.

The door opened revealing her the main house maid. Serene. "Young Mistress? Can you please come down? Your father is expecting you." Serene says. Sarah sighs and mumbled an 'Okay'.

"And." Serene continues. "He wants you to wear this."

Serene gave Sarah a snow, white retro dress, tights and a pair of mary jane shoes. Sarah puts on the soft fabric on her and brushed her hair. She scurried down, and saw that her father was there along with the entire village. Making the petite girl confused.

"Father? What is all of this?" Sarah asked her Father who just ignored her and grabbed her wrist roughly. Sarah stumbled after her Father, The whole village people slowly, following after them. Sarah began to grew uneasy as they started to enter a forest.

Sarah looked up the sky and saw the moon was red. As people would call it, A Blood Moon. They stooped and Sarah looked behind her father.

Her blood immediately ran cold.

It was a wooden table in straps, covered in dried-up blood. Sarah screams, horrified at why she never noticed this before since she lived here all her life. The Village people started to surround her, she tried to run but they pinned her arms down, they strapped her down the table.

"STOP!!!"

Her mother came breaking through the crowd, a look of bravery and determination on her face. " I can't let you hurt my daughter!" Her Mum yells.

"Catherine! You knew from the beginning she was the one! Our daughter has to go!" Her Father yells back. "YOUR Daughter?! You don't even love her!" Her Mom recoils. Her dad finally having enough, snapped.

"Burn this witch to the pole!" He commanded. "NO! Sarah yells crying. She watched as they burned her mother's flesh and hearing her screamed. They even dared to mock her.

Her father, happy to get rid of a nuisance then held a knife above Sarah's body. Sarah's  eyes shimmer in tears and in fear. Her father started chanting.

"Esro, Ventium, Entangulum, Veneforis, Domintius,-"

Sarah began to feel queasy and her head started to ache.

"Atover, Santam, Selclum, Bethium-"

She wanted this feeling to stop. She tried to say something but her voice, failed her.

"Çlå, Ätø, Vér, Ata, Ñīçktœ"

Sarah began to feel pain as she thrash around as if she can no longer breathe.

"Calling upon the Great taker of Children."

Her father stood there watching the bloody and mangled corpse of her 'Daughter' a crazed smile soon etched in his face. He wiped the blood off of the knife "Bury her." He ordered.

He was happy, without his stupid wife and useless daughter he can finally do whatever he pleased. He went back to the mansion, with Sherrie in his arms.

"This is ours now, My Love."

A Few weeks have passed. Cedric –Sarah's Father– walked home from work. He went up to his room and saw, Sherrie waiting for him at the bed. Cedric went up to her loosening his tie.

His hands traveled around her body as she allowed him to slowly take her dress off of her own body. Sherrie did the same with him. The two got locked up in a passionate kiss.

The two fell asleep, happy.

A dark figure loomed over the village. It was feminine in shape. The figure traveled from house to house, curious of what it can do. Then suddenly it remembered why it was like this in the first place, it grew angry as a piercing screech spread throughout the village.

Cedric and Sherrie woke up, by the sound of people screaming and the cackling of fire. They quickly put their clothes back on and went outside.

The sight was gruesome.

The village all in a blaze of flames, People trying to run away from something unknown, Mangled bodies everywhere there intestines gone and used as ornaments to design trees and plants. They look and saw in the middle of all of it, a beast on all fours staring back at them, with its red, glowing eyes.

Its body was black and they can see long, horns growing, claws and a back and tail covered spikes. It gave out an inhuman screech as it ran towards them. Cedric and Sherrie ran towards the mansion and locked the door. The two scrambled for a place to hide. But they somehow got separated.

The two can hear the door smashed open, and footsteps on the floor. The figure ended up in the room, where Sherrie was hiding. The figure kicked the door open. Sherrie stopped dead, cold.

"I know you are here." Said a female voice but it has many echoes mixed into it.

Sherrie began to cry. Then she felt two, sharp claws grabbed her ankles and pushed her out under the bed. Sherrie screamed when she saw, It was a girl with short hair.

But her body was all black and her eyes are glowing red and very sharp claws. So sharp that a little poke felt like a hundred, needles. "Hey there, Sherrie. Having fun with my 'Dad'." It spoke.

Sherrie's eyes widen when the figure turned into a pile of smoke and turned into the same beast back outside the village.

The figure ripped her stomach open and let all of her guts out. It suddenly started carving drawings in her face. The figure used it's claws to wrap Sherrie's own intestines around her neck to choker her. Then, the figure peeled her face off. With one final stroke the figure ripped her eyes heart out, putting it in a small gift bag.

Cedric heard all of Sherrie's screams. He was terrified. He ran, and ran, the figure chasing him on all fours. Suddenly, he was cornered against a wall.

"Please." He begged. "Let me go. I have a wife, and a daughter!"

The figure growled at him. Cedric saw the figure morphed into a Silhouette of his daughter... Sarah. But her body, was all black like a shadow and her eyes are glowing red. The Silhouette punched him across his face.

"Your wife was burned alive and your daughter was sacrificed." It spoke. Cedric looked at the Silhouette in fear. Then, it morphed into his own daughter. But she was crying blood and her white dress was all bloody.

"Hey Father." She Spoke. "Do you know, about the stories you told me about the monster who is under my bed and wants to eat me?"

Cedric, stayed quiet as he stared at Sarah who gave him a sadistic smile. He suddenly got slapped. Hard.

"ANSWER ME!!!" Sarah yells at him.

"Yes." Cedric replied at the insane 15-year-old. "Well, I learned something new." Sarah stated.

"Monsters are not under the bed. They are in your head all along."

The last thing he saw was a monster pouncing at him.

Scotland Yard investigated the old remains of Rosebellia Village. Nothing was left, it was all ashes. "Look! I found something!" yelled one of the guards. They looked and saw him carrying a neatly, wrapped present with a blue ribbon on it.

They slowly opened it, and one of them immediately vomited.

Inside it were two hearts, still fresh as if it were preserved.

The suddenly heard a shrill whisper in the wind.

"I'm not in the closet or under the bed, I was always in your head."

THE
