Sonic X - Hell

Sonic X was a rather recent attempt to merge the popular Sonic the Hedgehog series with anime culture - viewed as a success by some and an abomination to others the show had its fair share of lovers and haters over its course.

However one episode of Sonic X never got aired, an episode that has become an urban legend due to tales of its contents being of demonic origin - much as conspiracy theorists have argued about Walt Disney gaining success via Satanic deals so too is there a theory that Sonic X made a deal with some dark entity to try and ensure success. The price of this modern day Faustian deal was, according to legend, the episode known simply as "Hell" - which was never released and was only leaked to the public due to an anonymous worker who rebelled against his supporters, apparently outraged at what he saw... this worker mysteriously vanished a few days after the episode was leaked and a number of stories have cropped up surrounding his disappearance.

As for the legendary Sonic X "Hell" episode - well, it's not pretty... the episode is said to be very similar to every other episode in terms of art style... no super-deformaties, hyper-realism or gore... in fact if one was to play the episode without sound it could easily pass as just another Sonic X episode.

Yet with sound everything changes for the worse, the voice cast have all switched roles and male characters speak in high-pitched female voices while the female characters speak in deep, masculine voices - neither of them make any sense and continually sprout out obscenities in multiple languages.

The voices continue even when no characters are present and spew forth vile hate, becoming louder and more aggressive as the episode goes on - after a while the sound of dogs whining in pain, cats hissing in fear and what appears to be a baby laughing plays out in the background and mixes with the angry, hateful voices.

Eventually the sound becomes painful to listen to and the episode cuts off abruptly - yet people who have watched the episode are said to be haunted by those sounds continually for days on end, long after they had stopped watching the episode.

So, not exactly what you'd call your typical "Lost Episode" by any means - its lack of blood, violence or disturbing scenes probably disappoints those who have come to familiarize yourselves with this type of conspiracy but I believe this episode is, in some ways, more disturbing as it makes me wonder as to the origins of those hateful voices... could it truly be possible that the legend is true?

Did the creators of Sonic X really make some kind of pact with a dark entity? If so are those fabled voices within Sonic X the souls of Hell - calling out to the living? Perhaps we shall never truly know...
