Sonic the Hedgehog 1.5
Hello, to whoever is reading this, i am writing this 7 hours after the events that occurred. I still have the CD by the way, but i plan to tell other people about this game. Before i do that though, here is the full story of what occurred to me.
I was shopping in a store for old video games, as i played a lot of them when i was young and wanted to relive memories. I found the games i was looking for! But... i also found a very interesting game too, one that i do not remember nor know about. It was called "Sonic the Hedgehog 1.5". Obviously i knew what Sonic the Hedgehog is, i played the games tons as a child. But, what was Sonic the Hedgehog 1.5? Wasn't the sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2 or something?
I was curious, and picked the game up. The game costed 4 dollars! That seemed pretty cheap, so i was hesitant on buying it, thinking there was maybe some kind of twist? In the end, curiosity got the best of me and i decided to buy it. When i got back home, i opened the Sonic case, revealing a CD with nothing written on it, being just a normal CD. I put the game in the console and started playing. The title screen seemed a bit weird, as Sonic had no smile, and the logo was missing "Hedgehog". The music and everything else at that part played like normal, though.
I thought to myself, "maybe this was some kind of Sonic Beta? Or possibly the original sequel for Sonic the Hedgehog?". I pressed start shortly after thinking that, and the game instantly began. It then showed a title card. However, the title card said Sonic was in a new zone I hadn't heard of. It was called... "Green Hedge Zone, Act 1"? Was this a misspell of Green Hill Zone or a possible beta version of it? The title card shortly disappeared after, and the act began.
It was similar to Green Hill Zone, but the layout was slightly different. The music was also Green Hill Zone but the pitch was different. Confused, but excited to find out more, i moved forwards with the control stick. Everything was like a normal act, but there was some differences: All of the enemies seemed to move faster! And there were a lot of spikes! They weren't unfairly placed, however. I managed to make it past all the Motobugs and Spikes, and i got to the Goal and completed the act, but something was off. There were no bonuses! I let that slide though, since I did think this was a beta after all.
Then I got to the next act and... the title card said it was named "Green Hedge Zone, Act 9". I was incredibly confused! There was supposed to be 9 ACTS TO THIS?! I couldn't believe it! And why did it skip to Act 9? Shortly after, something was very wrong... The title card changed into a bunch of random numbers and letters, and the act was just a bunch of randomly placed tiles and objects! Strangely enough though, no enemies. Even stranger, I'm playing as Tails now! After walking a bunch through the scrambled parts and collecting some Rings that looked like letters, i finally came to the end. Tails stopped moving.
Even pressing the control stick won't move him. The screen starts glitching so much that it sounds like you can hear the console burning up. I was weirded out by this, and realized that i could hear footsteps sounds from the game! Tails was being chased by something, but i didn't even know what! I kept making Tails move forward, but the footsteps got louder and louder until a dark shadowy figure grabbed Tails, and it looked like the figure was trying to eat him, before the game crashed! I was freaked out by this. The game wouldn't work after that, and trying to play it again just showed a screen saying "No way!".
I went to the store to get a refund, but they declined. Maybe they wanted more money, or they just want that game gone, but I'm not exactly sure. Either way, I still have the CD. At least everything is fine.
