SpongeBoy Ahoy?

I'm pretty sure you know SpongeBob SquarePants. That 22-year old show has been dubbed to thousands of places, so it's basically world-famous.

But, a lot less people know about the pilot, "SpongeBoy Ahoy" which was created way back in 1996, when only a dozen people knew about it.

There's been several fanmade "VHS tapes" of the pilot shown on You-tube, and none seem real. The real one though, who knows where it went. It's probably broken or something.

But it's not. I have it.

It seems impossible, but one of my relatives used to work at Nickelodeon ever since it was known as Pinwheel. That's pretty old.

So, yeah. I have the VHS. I don't even remember when I first saw it, because that's because I never watched it. Might as well, since I'm sharing this with you.

The VHS

When I started it, it immediately went to the episode like one of those cheesy creepypasta thingies. There was a title card that said, "Pilot." That was just because they hadn't thought of a name yet. The episode started just like the first episode, "Help wanted," since that was the episode the pilot was based on. It zoomed into SpongeBoy's pineapple, but, strangely, the narrator wasn't speaking, which was strange, because SpongeBoy and the narrator had the same actor. The alarm clock blew, and SpongeBoy woke up. He said to Gary, "Today's the big day, Gary!" with a deep voice. Even deeper than it was in "Help wanted." Also, Gary was eating a cactus. The rest of the episode went normal, (albeit with SpongeBob being called SpongeBoy) until he went inside the Krusty Krab. (Then known as the Outback Crab House) When SpongeBoy tripped on a nail, he fell for one frame before the episode somehow stopping and going into a menu I never saw.

The menu

The menu was a blank white screen, with a picture of SpongeBoy, and three selections in Comic Sans font.

1: play all

2: pilot

3: pilot extension

I assumed the "pilot extension" was the 2-minute episode "Reef blower" which was used to fill up the time for "Help wanted," being 9 minutes.

I noticed it was already dark out and I decided to go to bed.

The return

A day later, I went back to the VHS to see what happened after it froze. Later, after SpongeBoy tripped on a nail, it actually continued. SpongeBoy bounced around the whole restaurant. But what was strange, was that every time he bounced around, the quality got worse. It was barely seeable now. I got angry and hit the TV, which somehow made the quality better. While I did that, I probably missed something, because SpongeBoy was walking out of the Crab House, sad. He walked back to his house, but on the way, Patrick confronted him and asked why he was sad. SpongeBoy replied by saying "He fired me." Patrick then says, "But you didn't even have a job!" SpongeBoy then said he knew and tells him to be quiet. Patrick suggested that he goes back the the Crab House and kill Mr. Crabs and Squidward. SpongeBoy liked this idea, and went to his house. Gary asked what he was doing. SpongeBoy replied with, "Not now, Gary. I've got to do what has to be done," which sounded extremely dark in my opinion. It skipped to another part, you know, like what VHS's do. Anyways, it skipped to SpongeBoy in the Outback Crab House, where he was holding a gun (yeah, that's right) and threatening Squidward and Mr. Crabs to hire him. Mr. Crabs declined, and SpongeBoy shot them both offscreen. Then, a employee nametag fell out of Mr. Crabs' pocket. SpongeBoy examined it, and got a pissed look on his face. The nametag read "Patrick Star," meaning he would've got the job instead. SpongeBoy ran to Patrick's house, and shot him offscreen too, getting blood all over a grinning SpongeBoy. Then, it ended. I couldn't get that image of the bloody SpongeBoy out of my head. Just the thought of it almost made me vomit. When it went back to the menu, the image of SpongeBoy was the bloody, grinning one. also, "pilot extension" somehow got removed. Why would Nickelodeon make something like this? I contacted them, but I got no response.

End

I guess it'll just be a mystery why this whole thing was real. SpongeBob couldn't have started from a dark pilot. Maybe I'm just overreacting.
