Spongebob's Backstory
Everyone knows the happy go-lucky cartoon known as Spongebob Squarepants, right? Well, there's a tragic backstory behind it that involves the main character, Spongebob.
It goes as far back as the year 1976, where a guy named Phil (later to be known as the sea sponge we all know and love) was born. He started to draw at 2 years old and would soon be known as the "Family Artist" He loved to draw lots of characters in his free time, even when he was at school. Art was the only school subject he liked.
Phil grew up in San Predo De Macoris, Dominican Republic. So he only spoke spanish and didn't learn english until he went to College.
At 6 years old, he started to paint. Although he didn't particularly like it, he still found some enjoyment in it. His paintings were...odd to say the least. One of his paintings was set in what seemed to be an infinite void, with him being sucked into it. Another one consisted of what seemed to be a giant sun engulfing the earth, and the earth slowly disintegrating. He started to get interested in other school subjects, like Math for example.
At 9 years old, He became a mathematician. Phil was pretty frickin' intelligent when he was 9 years old but that wouldn't last very long. He loved everything about maths! from the numbers to the problems, there wasn't a single math lesson that didn't catch his interest. He started drawing lots of things relating to the subject. He even drew numbers on his wall and on his table too. His parents were worried about his mental health and Phil was forced to go to therapy.
At 11 years old, Phil's interest in math started to decline and he was always dreading math classes at this point of his life. To cope with his crippling depression (caused by stress) He became addicted to junk food. Such as Takis, Tamales, and especially Mexican Candy. His mum thought that he was just going through a phase and that it would end in almost a month.
At 14 years old, Phil was still addicted to Junk Food and craved it every moment of the day. His depression was getting worse by the second, and he was constantly taking piles of candy to school every day. He was expelled from many high schools, because he was bullying and physically abusing his fellow classmates. He also got an attitude with his teacher near the end of the eighth grade. Many of his assessments weren't turned in, and his teacher was furious with him. When the last day of school arrived, Phil had to sit in detention for 2 hours instead of going straight home.
At 16 years old, Phil's mum finally found out that his addiction was real. So she had to put an end to it, and Phil had to put an end to her.
He assaulted his own mother by repeatedly punching her in the stomach and suffocating her. Phil found great joy in hurting his mother, so he kept doing it until she fell onto the ground. She was struggling to breathe and move, and her ability to talk was destroyed. Phil started to repeatedly kick her in the head, then he pulled all her teeth out before leaving her to die in the kitchen.
At 18 years old, Phil met Max (Soon known to be Spongebob's best friend) and Dan (Soon known to be Squidward) Dan hated absolutely everything. He hated goths, emos, cats, dogs, music, movies, TV shows and even his parents. He was also a very vicious and angry person and Max was very naive. Phil thought that he was dumb, and that Dan was a wannabe emo. Nevertheless, the 3 boys instantly became friends the second they met.
However, Phil's relationship with Max began to turn sour in less than a week. Max started to notice that Phil was acting strange around him. Despite being naive, he was also very nervous and had social anxiety disorder. So he didn't like when people judged him for things he didn't do. Phil thought that the "Social Anxiety Disorder" thing was an excuse to ignore him. Max started to act really weird around Phil during their second week of their friendship. He did anything he can to avoid talking to Phil. In the third week of their friendship, They started to have a fair share of arguments.
In the fourth week of their friendship, they started to ignore each other a lot and they wouldn't even come near one another. Dan seemed to have genuine hatred for Phil, considering that his best friend wouldn't even hang out with him anymore. Considering that Phil was an absolute asshole. Phil started to tease Dan, a lot. Mostly because of his skin colour and how he has pimples all over his face. Dan then started to do whatever he can to ignore Phil, but Phil just kept following him no matter where he went.
In the fifth week of their friendship, Max and Dan started to gang up on Phil due to his abusive behaviour towards them. Phil was scared to say the least but his friends didn't care one bit. Max then started to threaten Phil every day of the week, and Phil would just respond with:
"Compañera, eres solo un pequeño pedazo de mierda!"
Max and Dan finally ended their friendship with Phil and went on with their daily lives.
When he was 20 years old, he started to learn English. He struggled and struggled but eventually got the hang of it. He only loved the curse words in the English language and would use them in every sentence he spoke. This made most of the teachers angry, so he was kicked out of every english class. The only words he knew were curse words, so he used them very often. The bad words made him finally feel happy again, and he forgot all about his addiction to junk food.
When he was 23 years old, Phil started to go insane. He was now an insomniac and would dream about killing his past friends. He was sent to a mental asylum the moment he turned 24, and it's been his home before his death. He would draw some very violent material and showed it to the public. What was written on his walls were in spanish, but they weren't pretty at all.
On May 1, 1999. Phil had a seizure. As it was happening, his eyes turned from white to red and he started to foam at the mouth. His body changed from peach to bright red, as if he was turning into a demon. Then he stopped breathing all together and died.
His first dream (while he was dead) was a POV of a sponge going to work, along with his friends Patrick and Squidward (Also known as Phil and Max) Patrick played the role of a dumb starfish, while Squidward played the role of a constantly annoyed neighbour.
And it's been that way ever since, and it'll always be that way.
