Spongeboy Ahoy! Pilot 1997

Author's note: I'm ElementR, this story is a retyping of a creepypasta video that I made years ago, it has a lot of cliches and copied "The Black Friday Incident" in a few areas. I hope you laugh, hate, cry, or question this story!

Sometime long ago, my friend Mike and I went to a garage sale to buy some stuff. He found a SpongeBob Lego set; he then bought it because he likes SpongeBob, while I got some cool posters. An item that had our attention was a big box with a label that said, "VHS Tapes". The owner of the box and garage sale said that the tapes used to be watched by her and her family, but now didn't want it anymore. We bought the box out of curiosity and drove back to my home.

At home, Mike and I looked through the box inside, the tapes were mostly movies and shows from long ago. One of the tapes caught my eye, the name was written in a black marker that said; "Spongeboy Ahoy Pilot 1997". Wondering what was in that tape, we both set up the VHS player that was from the basement, and connected it to the tv. I inserted the tape in while Mike grabbed himself and me a soda.

When it started, the screen showed a blue screen with a timecode at the bottom center. It then cut to a rough early version of the SpongeBob SquarePants intro, but it was only the final shot with the title, and the jingle sounded like a xylophone instead of SpongeBob's nose playing. After the intro, it showed Spongeboy sitting at the living room at night watching the news while eating popcorn. Spongeboy turned off the tv and went to bed after the news ended. The next day came and took place outside, where Spongeboy and Squidward talks about Patrick's recent angry behavior. It turns out that Patrick originally was more of a grumpy short-tempered character than a friend before the final version of the show. My friend and I were confused by this.

The episode then cuts to static, and after a while, a strange picture of Spongeboy slightly fades in for a moment. Before we could clearly see the picture, it then cuts to the two, Spongeboy and Squidward going to work at the Krusty Krab, where a customer is seen making fun of Patrick for being pink. Patrick gets angrier and angrier at the insults, until he suddenly punches the costumer at the throat, and started to strangle him. Spongeboy and Squidward were looking at this in horror. The screen suddenly starts distorting as Patrick tears out the customer's eyes and then cuts to an old skinny lady tap dancing with loud reversed music playing. Mike and I were confused and scared by this, as I gripped my soda, crushing it.

The old lady when starts walking slowly at the camera. When she got really close to it, the scene cuts back to Patrick, who starts to break Mr. Krabs apart with a sledgehammer. He then shoves a gun at Mr. Krabs throat and pulls at trigger, as he screams in agony and dies. Everyone at the Krusty Krab starts running out of there with Spongeboy and Squidward freaking out. The police and ambulance come to the restaurant, Patrick punches the police and steals his car and drives away and runs over the costumers and policemen outside.

The scene fades to Squidward's house, where he and Spongeboy plan to find and stop Patrick before he can kill anyone else. It then cuts to the two walking at night outside, not making a noise. My friend started to sob as I was scratching my head with fear. The two then saw Patrick riding the police car towards them, they both started screaming, which looked similar to the nightshift episode. It cuts to a sequence of silents shots of Spongeboy and Squidward running, the scene lasted for 3 minutes, and black-highlight Russian text was in front of the screen at the center.

After that scene, it slowly fades into Spongeboy in Rock Bottom, and no trace of Squidward can be found. He looked dirty and was only wearing a tattered underwear, his face looked like a demon, and he was hunched over like a beast. The screen started to distort and get wavier and warier as Spongeboy shoves his hands deep into his eyes and rips them out and growled like a dragon. He grabs his head and completely tares it in half, revealing a skeleton. He falls into a river and explodes with body parts and entrails flying in the air. It then cuts to black with a text that was shown for a second that said, "© MCMXCVII Nickelodeon". The tape had finally ended and ejected itself.

Both Mike and I were speechless at what we saw, and didn't talk about it for the rest of the day. I burned the tape at my backyard and threw away afterwards. I tried to contact Nickelodeon about the 1997 pilot, but either got answers that said that there wasn't a pilot like that, or an automated voice message. Ever since that day, I have had nightmares about that pilot when I sleep. I had never mentioned to anyone or my friend about the early SpongeBob pilot and just wanted to forget about it.
