This one's a true story

You know how kids always have that extra sense?

like they can see the little things that adults miss?

I guess its only natural you know...

When we're young, the whole world's so new to us; everything's foreign. And we have such a fun time exploring new places.

But once we get older we begin to lose that sense of curiosity. Especially when staying in one place for too long. We become so familiar with our environment, our daily routines stay the same; nothing ever changes, at least not for me anyways.

Just the other day though, I noticed that things did start changing. But I took little notice because I was too busy doing adult things. I was too busy with school. If only I'd still had that sense of curiosity then maybe things wouldn't have turned out as they did.

This is what happened: I awoke in the middle of the night. I never bothered to look at the clock, because there's just something about the hours of the nights that I feel more comfortable not knowing what they are. This was different though, like if it was a dream. But I knew I was awake, because I remembered everything about myself this time. I remembered exactly how I had gotten to where I was, so it couldn't have been a dream.

I couldn't quite figure out why I was awake... I didn't need to use the bathroom, and I always sleep through the night without any trouble. My mind was completely at a blank though and I couldn't quite think clearly. I must have stayed like that for a good half an hour until I closed my eyes and began to dream. It was such a swift transition from when I closed my eyes to when I entered my dreams.

I never had anything like it and I sure as hell haven't had anything since. Anyways, as soon as I closed my eyes I opened them in my dreams to see that I was still in the same place. My room was dark and I couldn't see anything yet. As soon I turned my head, everything changed.

Suddenly the room was no longer dark as the TV turned on to a static station.

So I got down from the bunk-bed I share with my brother (since I'm on the top bunk). As soon as I got to the TV to push a button I heard the voice of a little girl telling me to leave it on, and as I turned around I discovered that it was my little sister and my brother. Their eyes were fixated on the TV, the static station was emitting no sound yet they were both so engulfed in it. I was really afraid to do anything at that point, as I have never felt fear whenever I see my family. But seeing my brother in that state paralyzed me.

So I decided to return to my bed and I closed my eyes. Whenever I would open them I was always met with the same sight of my brother and sister blankly staring into an empty screen. The only difference was that the clock sped up an hour or so. It was probably the fourth time that I awoken in this dream, the clock read 4:15. As if I was urged by supernatural force, I got up to join my brother and sister in watching the TV. Only this time, the signal was no longer static, and as I looked into the box the picture began to play. It was one of me engulfed in my daily routine and it was playing events that I would later find out would come true the next day. Most of them were boring as usual. Nothing really happened until it got to the end, when I saw myself speaking to my mom. She told me that someone in my family was going to die.

The last thing I remember was that stupid clock marking the hour of 4:15.

Then I woke up and I shook off the dream, because that's just what rational people do right? Soon enough I was back to my everyday life it wasn't until about mid day that I began to realize that everything I saw in my dream had come true. My step dad had sold his old truck. He even got same car that my dream told me he would get. I should've realized then that I should do something but like I said I had lost that sense of curiosity and now I'm forced to live with this regret for the rest of my life.

At the time 4:15 pm I received the news that my cousin had been hit by a car he was pronounced dead at the scene.
