Supermariobrothers %.exe

You will never believe this story. I was at home, writing a paper when I had the sudden urge to play Super Mario Brothers again. Now, I didn't have a copy of the game, and the last time I played it was years ago. I initially decided not too. This paper's due in a week, and I'm only at the initial draft.

Ten minutes into the paper, the urge to play began overwhelming me. I gave up and started searching the internet for a download. I knew there had to be a way to play it without the original console. Eventually, I landed on a site (I don't really know what because the address bar blanked out), which offered a download. I was suspicious of it at first. Was the site safe? I felt like it wasn't, but since I couldn't find anything wrong with the site, I decided to download it anyway.

The file started downloading when my computer froze. Weird, I thought. I tried several things, but it wouldn't unfreeze. I had to force it to shut down and start it up again. Afterward, I leaned back in my chair and started to wonder what just happened when the download resumed. This was odd, because me web browser wasn't open nor did this happenw ith any other file. I shrugged it off as part of my browser's update. When it was done, I saw a message pop up for a second on my screen.

"DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, BOY?"

I wasn't sure why it was asking me this. Maybe a program was requesting my location and used that as a joke. I think my antivirus cleared it a few seconds as it appears, but I'm not sure

When I looked, there was a file named "supermariobrothers_%.exe"

This was odd. And my odd, I mean very odd. That wasn't the name of the file I downloaded. did it glitch because the download restarted? I wanted to go back and download a fresh copy, but I found my hand moving the mouse to the file instead of my browser. Before I could think, I doubleclicked the file. And as soon as I did, a message popped up.

"Unrecognized file type"

Wait a minute, I'm on a Mac, WHAT AM I DOING?
