So, Rail Fest begins soon, and my family is going to it. My uncle is an engineer on the track around here. Oh, sorry guys, my name is Mandy, by the way. I am writing this for my fall summer discovery in school. Its a report everyone does for fall break.

Our journey began in Ohio, where we live. We bought four plane tickets, one for my mother, one for my father, one for my best friend, Kayla, and me. Kayle and I sat together, my mom and dad a few seats behind us. During the trip, a man in the seat across from us kept looking at me. I always questioned it, but said nothing for safety measures.

The plane trip had ended a few hours after. Now, we are stuck driving around Nebraska. Getting lost most of the time. We landed in a town called Grand Island. After my mom had called her brother, (my uncle), George, a couple of times we got back on the road. Eventually we ended up in North Platte, where Rail Fest is held.

We got to Uncle George's house in time for him to go to work for the night. Kayla and I decided to watch a movie or two. She picked one and I picked the other. Scream and Scream 4. Those are good movies though. One of our favorites.

Saturday, September 11th 10:54AM

I guess we passed out in the middle of Scream 4. This morning Uncle George came home, which woke us up when he entered our room. "You girls wanna go to the Corn Maze? I have to run it anyway!" He said, oh so happily it seemed. Kayla and I shrugged, then got ready. We got into the back of Uncle George's truck and drove off a few miles is what it seemed like. When we drive by the actual maze, it was huge! George pulled the car up to a parking lot of a huge tower labeled "The Spike Tower". I was kind of hoping we'd tour that. But, sadly it's just the maze today.

Kayla looked up at the tower, walking ahead to the maze. We went to the ticket stand, where a women, George, and another kid, like my age, stood, selling tickets to the maze and safety flags. Safety flags are just in case you get lost. Which I think is a stupid idea. Our flags are received and we travel inside the maze.

There is a lot of noise, rustling corn stalks, murmuring voices, and lots of harsh breathing. We pass a lot of people with no flags. If they don't have any flags, why do we? Kayla turns a corner without me knowing, so, we lose each other. I mumble a bit, "Dang it Kayla". She always finds a way to lose herself from the group.

I turn back, only to notice a drip of red on the ground. To God I hope its some kids juice. I walk slowly up to the red, and turn the corner it goes. Following a while it leads me to a dead squirrel. Under it is Kayla's green flag, marked with her name. I gasp, turning around, running away to the entrance.

To my best of luck, I'm lost.

I remember the squirrel again, it was dirty, likes its been dragged. Who would DRAG a dead squirrel? It also had bite marks in it, which is suspicious to me.

I stop at a corner, panting out of breath. When I hear a muffled scream. Breathless and scared, I ran south, where the entrance to the maze is, if I can remember. I stop again at a dead end. The muffled scream comes again. I follow it this time, hoping I can help whoever the unknown screamer is.

I spin myself around running towards the scream. When I turn the last corner I find an elder women- more into her 30's. She has cuts across her face and a huge cut into her stomach. Her intestines hang out widely, with a stalk of corn stabbed into the inside.

I gasp horribly, trying to keep the throw-up down. I hear panting in the distance, wondering who else heard the screams. Picking up a hand full of rocks, I hold them in my shirt, turning around dropping them for a path.

I turn about four corners at the time. When I suddenly run into the front of someone. A small scream comes out of me, and the rocks I hold falls on the ground. I look up at the person who ran into me. "Mandy! Thank God! I was worried, next time we need a buddy stick!" Kayla says to me. "Oh, Kayla.. Damn you! You scared me!" I yell at her, picking up the rocks.

She moves forward, looking at the small pools of blood leading to the women. "No, Kayla, don't go." I stop her, pulling back in front of me. Eventually she looks at me with a worried look. "Why?" She asks.

I have no answer. Just pulling her along with me, dropping the rocks.

We come across people with flags, walking in the other direction of us, laughing, talking, happy. I'm pretty sure we're going the right way, when I see my uncle.

Oh thank God. I thought we were trapped in this damn maze.

I begin my whining phase, "Uncle George! Please, help, call the police, anything! Just follow the rock path!" I whine, completely scared out of my mind. "Mandy, calm down.. Are you alright?" He answers with a question.

Another moment I have no answer. Instead of answering him, I sit down on the concrete, with Kayla following me. I watch as Uncle George becomes more concerned. He moves over and into the big building to a elder man. I hear him whisper: "Call the police.. My neice is complaining of....of..I don't know. Just call the police."

A few minutes later the one of the police man on guard here today comes by. He crouches down in front of me and Kayla. "Tell me what you saw." He says.

"First off, I lost Kayla. Then I followed some blood, like something was being dragged. I found a dead squirrel. Then I heard screams, so I followed them. I found a women with cuts on her face and....and... her stomach cut open.. with a corn stalk stuffed inside of her stomach cut.." I say, terified to think of it.

"Thank you, ma'am." The police man tells us. "Uh.. Why don't I take you girls home now." My uncle says. We get up and follow him to his truck. Soon enough we're far enough from the maze, the tower, and mostly, the body.

My back begins to shudder. Which makes me shiver a little. I look out the side window, then the front, and the back. I see a shadow of something made of straw. It feels like its looking at me, with yellow glowing eyes. I turn around and sink down in my seat. Whatever this beast is, its watching me.

We pull up into Uncle George's house. Kayla and I walk inside and go straight into our room. We get ready for bed. I look over at Kayla, who's sound asleep. I end up falling asleep around 10-15 minutes later.

Sunday, September 12th 3:43AM

I just woke unexpected and unalarmed. Something shook the bed that woke me. Kayla isn't in the room, I excepted she went to the bathroom or got a drink in the kitchen. But, something happened. I did hope everyone was okay.

I sat up, not ready to go back to sleep. I looked around, it was all dark but a little moonlight shining through the...OPEN WINDOW!

The window is open! I can't believe it! Uncle George's home is freezing! Kayla and I has to have about 6 blankets! I go to the window and close it, roughly. I look outside, too. Just to be sure Kayla wasn't sleep walking or anything outside.

Instead, I see a faint glow. Yellow looking oval eyes. I widen my eyes and jump down as fast as I could. I was those yellow glowing eyes from the streets!

When I look at the space in front of me I see straw around the room. I gasp a little, but covering my gasp, is a faint, but load, scream.
