The Dog That Smiles

I used to be a normal 16 year old kid, until I saw that thing... It was the afternoon I was finishing up some homework in my room for school the next day. I had been doing my homework for the past hour, until I finished around 4:30.

After that I went downstairs to put my books away in my school bag, but that's when I noticed my dog was just sitting there staring out the window

(Usually when I enter a room with my dog in it he would run up to me and jump all over me to pet him and give him attention)

I thought it was a bit strange, but I just kept going, when I was done putting my school stuff away I went to go get something to eat.

When I finished eating I decided to go watch some television. I watched TV for about a good half hour, I eventually I got bored and was wondering what my brother was doing. So I went upstairs to see what he was doing, while I was half way up the stairs I looked into my living room (My stairs over view my living room and family room.) and saw my dog still sitting there in the exact same spot and in the exact same position of when I was in there putting my books away.

At the time I just ignored it because I thought he moved and went back to that spot. So I continued up the stairs, I got to my brothers room and opened the door he was sleeping. So I quietly shut the door and left, I went back down the stairs and looked over into my living room. My dog was still sitting there looking out the window, I approached my dog slowly. He didn't even stop looking out the window to take a look at me coming towards him. I took a glance out the window to see what my dog had been hypnotized by for the past 30 minutes... nothing was there.

I started petting my dog telling him, "Everything's fine nothings there buddy."

He didn't move and he kept staring out the window. I began to think that maybe if I took him for a walk outside and showed him nothings there that he would stop doing this. But it was just about quarter after 5:00 and the sun was already setting. So I decided that this would just have to be a small walk around the block. When I strapped his leash to his collar and started to pull him away from the window he began to whimper I told him, "To relax and everything's ok."

As we walked outside he started pulling me towards the front door, I gave him a small tug and then he began to start walking. While we were walking he started whimpering again. I said, "Don't cry bud were ok."

I started thinking he might be hurt or sick so we stop walking and I checked him out he seemed ok, but just... just.. something was wrong with him.

Once we got halfway around the block the street lights started turning on, it was getting dark. I decide to pick up the pace and walk a little faster, I was getting a little nervous. We were just about in front of my house when my dog started really acting up, he was pulling really hard and whimpering very loud. I let him go and he ran right to my front door.

As I was walking up my lawn to join him at the front door I got the sudden urge to look to my right down the street. When I looked there seemed to be a dog at the end of my street looking the other way, it seemed to look like a Siberian husky. I knew for a fact that nobody in my neighborhood owned a Siberian husky, so it couldn't have been somebody's dog that just got loose.

I also doubted that there were wild Siberian huskies roaming the suburbs of New Jersey. But then I noticed the dog began to turn around, when it turned around it almost seemed that it had a grin or smile on its face. I couldn't really tell it was pretty far away from me i guess. So then I just went back inside, for the next couple hours I had a bad headache and i kept picturing that dog's face in my head I didn't know why, so I just took some aspirin and went to sleep.

That night i had the most horrible nightmare of my life, in the nightmare I was walking down an empty street that was completely dark and there was one street light. The street light was on the opposite side of the street from where I was in the nightmare. So I walked towards it, when I was about 15 ft away from it the same dog I saw the day before came out of the abyss of darkness and into the street light. The dog sat in the middle of the light staring at me with a smile on its face. In the nightmare I couldn't stop walking towards it as if I had been under a spell.

When I got to about 3 ft in front of the dog it stared at me for about 4 seconds, then it pounced. I woke up right after that when I a woke and I still had a headache and sweat was pouring down my face, but most oddly of all was that my right arm was hurting. I removed the blanket to find a huge dog bite on my right forearm, that's when i really started to worry.

I couldn't tell my parents this or my brother they would never believe me. I told my dad that I wasn't feeling well so he would let me stay home from school, and he did. While i was home I went on my computer and looked up this "smiling dog" and I found other stories of this thing, So now I decided to write my own story before its too late...

Beware of the dog that smiles...
