The Hay Murders

"Death has climbed in through our windows and has entered our fortresses; it has cut off children from the streets and young men from the town squares." Jeramiah 9:21, Bible Verse

If you go to Ohio into Wyandot County, you may be able find the ruins of a town known as Gordon. It was formed in the 1912's and all records of the town have been deleted. The only way I knew what it was is because I went to play there when I was six (which was over seven years ago) and uncovered a sign called "Gordon: Population..." The number was cut off as it was broken. As I picked it up, a chorus of whispers seemed to pick up.

The townsfolk of Gordon didn't know about a sect of Nazi Scientist's that was using the citizen's as test subjects. The testing was to convert a human soul into that of a non-living thing. The installation was a mile away from the town, inside the middle of a forest, unknown to the outside world. During the Nazi's time there, an old man had been on a murdering spree for a year, raping and killing woman, children, even sometimes animals.

The Nazi's found this old man and used him to convert into a scarecrow. The testing worked, and the soul of the man was inside the scarecrow. Except there was one thing they didn't count on: The old man could use his new body.

He murdered all the scientists and horrifically gutted the leader of the expedition and killed them afterwards, who was a female, a lieutenant of the Secret Paranormal Division. The Scarecrow would lead on a numinous killing spree for around fifty years, maybe longer.

In 1944, two poor men who lived together witnessed the scarecrow. The file was inscribed in a rotted-out desk inside the Gordon Sheriff's department.

One of the men, John, scribbled this down like a mad dog:

I came home riding on my Big Wheel when I noticed the house lights weren't on. I went into check on my friend, and when I walked into the kitchen, I saw him. He had hay covering his head, which was mutilated and decayed, skinned, and the eye socket's torn out with hooks connected to chains stuck in them. Blood covered the walls of the kitchen, and I thought I would loose my mind. I turned around, and there was the scarecrow. I quickly grabbed a meat cleaver from the table, and when I looked back, the scarecrow had vanished before my eyes.

Also in the file, it said John had been taken to the lunatic asylum in the capitol of Columbus, which was only a few miles away from Gordon.

Then for the next couple decades, there were bodies found with hay covering their faces. Once, a police chase in 1952 occurred, and a police officer wrote it down in his journal:

We chased what might have been the person causing the Hay Murders, but I don't think it was a person. It had straw limbs, and glaring red eyes and no mouth. It wore a strall hat and overalls as if it were a farmer. It almost looked like a scarecrow, but....No way could that happen. It had a bloodied axe that almost looked like it had hairs of his victim glued to the dried blood. It's a demon, I swear on it. My god, my god, the demons have risen. I know it, as I remember.....I hear the murmurs in the dark....

I found this journal recently, and there was blood covering the page. I researched the man's name, and he'd died 11/13/52, the same date he'd written the entry. He was a victim of the Hay Murders, the local newspaper of the incident had said. I was lucky when I found it, as when I refreshed the page since some of the newspaper hadn't loaded, it was blank. All it said was ERROR: FILE 1153 NOT FOUND.

In the 1960's the killing spree spread world-wide, re-starting in Ohio and reaching to places such as Germany, and all the deaths had hay covering their heads. But in the 1970's, it appeared to have ended. All files of these accounts were burned, except for the files I uncovered in the ruins of Gordon. I guess maybe the scarecrow is done.

Well, I just turned on the TV. Apparently in my local area, a missing man's body had finally been found....With hay covering his face...
