The Human Mind Theory

The human mind has been studied many times. Most of the results were good and other results were unexpected. One of the most recognized investigators was Sigmund Freud, who made many theories. One of the theories talks about how mind is affected by age, talking about sexuality and personality wise. But if you think about the human mind is very strange by the fact that it's affected by the way a person lives or by the thing that person encounters. For example, a raped girl can be optimistic even after the horrible incident but many other girls are all sad and depressed. Another good example of the strange human mind is the way many serial killers were made.

Ed Gein (Also known as The Butcher of Plainfield), a very infamous serial killer who was the inspiration for Buffalo Bill(Silence of the Lambs), Leatherface(Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and Norman Bates(Psycho), was a mad man who was raised by his mother, Augusta Wilhelmine in a farm in Wisconsin. His mother preached him telling him that all women(except her) were evil. Which resulted on that the only woman he ever loved was her, his mother. In December 29,1945 his mother died., which made Ed Gein depressed and in the words of the author of the biography of Ed Gein : "...he had lost his only friend and one true love. And he was absolutely alone in the world."

Even after his mother died he kept living on the farm he was raised in but that didn't mean he was cropping corn or planting vegetables. He was reading about the human anatomy (especially the female body) and ways of torture. He even dug up female dead bodies to study them. Learning their weak points and organ system helped him later on in his life of crime. He learned how to cut them and how to make them suffer slowly. He even stored those organs and bones. But another thing about his little experiment was that he had the desire to become a woman. He wanted organs for a sex change. But the only thing he could do was dress up in female bodysuit, with a woman's face as the mask and breast constructed by human skin. With was what left over of the female bodies he would use to make "furniture".He would decorate his whole farmhouse with skin and bones that came from female bodies but there was only one room he never decorated with the gory furniture, his mother's bedroom.

Ed Gein's f first reported victim was a woman named Mary Hogan who was murdered December 8,1954. He shot her in the head with a 32 caliber revolver. He took her body and to the shed were he would use as part of his female bodysuit. He had many other victims but none were reported. His second reported victim (and last) was a woman named Bernice Worden whom was murdered on November 16,1957. He shot her in her hardwood store with a .22 rifle and, like the previous victim, used her body for his bodysuit and furniture. Gein was finally caught. The Sheriff Art Schley and Captain Lloyd Schoephoester set off for the farm, seven miles outside Plainfield. The caught him on his truck were they took him into custody.

Once inside the Gein farm they found the doors locked and went on the back were the shed was where they found naked bodies. One of the bodies had the head missing; another one had the vagina missing. They even found the decapitated body of Bernice Worden. But that was only the shed; they were more shocked at what they found in his house. They found body trophies and skin furniture. With all the evidence police found he was convicted with First degree murder. On court he was diagnosed as insane.

He was taken to Central State Hospital for the Criminally insane. Something very typical about him was that he was anti-social, a very stereotypical thing on serial killers. In other words, he was the stereotypical serial killer what made him different was his way of murdering which made him infamous. But that doesn't mean all serial killers are like that. Some serial killers were known for being sociable and cheerful others were known to be very friendly. But that's how the human mind works. The human mind is influenced. Many people relate saying that the human mind is convinced by a voice (or in religion The devil) who is said is the one who causes all things. That may or may not be the case but we do know that we are human, we are not perfect. But what if there is a voice we may never know...
