The Last Human On Earth

"Ah..." I rubbed my hair as the sun shone on me, "Why is it so hot..."

Throwing my blanket away, I slowly sat up in my bed, my eyes burning from the bright sun outside. For some reason, today felt different to me. It was almost like it was too quiet. The blank buzzing that always accompanied me wasn't here today.

"I wonder how everybody is today..." I smiled, and walked out of my bed room. As I opened the door and entered into the living room, my footsteps caused a dull echo. Once I finally reached the living room, I saw nobody.

"Mom?" I looked around "Dad?"

My parents were quite protective about me. They would never leave me alone in the house without saying anything. Walking back to my bedroom, I opened the door and grabbed my phone. Looking through it, there were no messages.

"That's strange...' I frowned, 'The guys are always messaging something... even my parents didn't leave a message... is this a prank?"

I shook my head and threw my phone down. It landed on my bed, and looking back at it once, I walked into the bathroom. An eerie feeling had already set into me, but I suppressed it and began to brush my teeth. After I was done brushing my teeth, I finished my other business with the bathroom and decided to take a bath a few minutes later.

"Alright... let's watch some TV..." I walked into the living room again and fell onto the sofa. "Let's see... I'll watch... YouTube..."

As I opened the much-loved app on my TV, I saw that all the videos on my recommended looked very serious. I narrowed my eyes as I began to read each of the titles of the videos.

'The world is ending, everything you need to know.'

'Will the world really end?'

'Cellular Destruction: What Is It?'

'New breakthroughs in the area of cellular destruction.'

However, there was a livestream going on called HELP. I felt chills on my body. With my hand shuddering, I opened the livestream called HELP and immediately, the livestream began.

There was a man in the video, talking.

"I can't believe it..." The man's eyes were empty. "It's been 12 hours since the cellular destruction phenomena began, and I'm the final person alive... I've looked through the streets of my city, nobody's there... wait... wait... THERE'S A VIEWER! ANOTHER PERSON IS ALIVE! WHO ARE YOU?! WHERE ARE YOU?!"

I was shaken. Controlling myself, I used the remote control to type up a message. The man looked into the chat with red eyes, he saw and read my message.

"You..." The man muttered, "You just woke up? You saw nobody since you woke up...? Do you live in the USA?"

I quickly typed up a yes and also asked him what happened.

As the message reached the man, tears began leaking out of his eyes.

"12 hours ago." He began, as I listened closely, "12 hours ago, during a live concert by the up-and-coming singer ElementalDrive, he died."

I was confused. Who is he? How did he die? How did that person's death cause this situation?

"ElementalDrive died." The man said, "In the middle of the concert, he died. His body shattered into black pieces, and those pieces disintegrated. That's what the scientists called the phenomena of Cellular Destruction. Immediately, research was launched, and everybody who knew about it sat down expectantly, wanting to know what this new thing was."

I suddenly stopped, listening to the words of the man carefully.

"But, once every minute, a million people were dying." He said "Everybody, exploded, died. Everybody, exploded, died. Everybody, exploded, died. Nobody knew, why, how, and when it would happen. It happened, happened, and happened. Nobody could stop it."

My blood ran cold. I didn't want to listen. It felt weird, this man could just be rambling, but my parents weren't here, and nobody else was here. As I listened to the man, I walked out into the balcony. Nobody was outside, either.

After listening to the man's story, the man sadly smiled. "This is the end of humankind... I never thought I would be the one to witness it... but... it seems you are even more unlucky, my friend..."

I quickly asked, what do you mean?

"When you are about to explode and be a victim of cellular destruction, you can feel a weird weight inside of you." The man said. "People only knew about it after the 12 hours the scientists found out about it. I can feel it now. I'm about to explode. I won't be the last human of earth, you will. I won't be the one to witness our end, you will. Goodbye."

"NO!!!" I roared, rushing to the TV. As I grabbed the TV, the man in front of me exploded, and the next second, the livestream ended.

The device he had been recording on had exploded.

I began to shudder, and I looked out of the window, as the sun slowly rose even higher.

"I am the last human of earth..."
