The Mantra

My first pasta, hope you guys like it! Had the idea floating around my head for a couple weeks, but it's here now!

The night had just begun for Jim. He turned in his school paper, passed with flying colors, made plans for dinner with his girlfriend Kathy and overall, had a good day. Until it was time to go home, that is. You see, Jim went to night school. Going home was a rather scary affair, but his Mother taught him a mantra he used to calm himself down. While walking home, Jim began to notice odd happenings in his neighborhood. The brick buildings covered in graffiti, showed an odd piece of street art.

A skeleton, a small furry creature, and then THIS. He was stumped as to what it was for a little while. While going about his walk home, he began to see the image in many different ways. Notes, electric billboards, neon signs, it was everywhere! Repeating his mantra, Jim continued to walk home, head low and heart fearful. What was this thing he had seen? He repeated the mantra once again until he began to hear footsteps. They got louder and louder until he could barely hear himself think over them.

He turned around and saw a man. But the man's head was... Oddly distorted. Like it was underwater or something to that effect. It was also elongated, and something I can only describe as... Pixelated. After seeing this thing, Jim calmly looked at it, relieved, and said "Oh good, I was right.", before opening the door to his house and going to bed. His mantra, you may ask?. "It was probably just a glitch."

And then a skeleton popped out.

But come to think of it.

It was probably a glitch too.
