The Pingu Anti-Drug PSA

Sometimes, I think those PSA makers run out of ways to scare people. Remember Mickey Mouse in Vietnam? Well, an independent PSA studio made an unnamed PSA simply known as "The Pingu Anti-Drug PSA" with a similar concept.

It's exactly what it says on the tin; an anti-drug PSA featuring Pingu. It premiered at a Swiss showing of Batman Forever in 1995, and was never shown again, possibly due to copyright from Trickfilmstudio.

I have a Swiss cousin who remembers the PSA vividly, and gave me this info about it.

The PSA starts with Pingu playing ball, when a seller passes by. He offers Pingu an unspecified blue pill, and Pingu agrees to buy it for 1 fish. It then cuts to a fast forward scene of Pingu buying more and more blue pills as the days go by, until it cuts to Pingu in a state of dizziness, and he collapses on the floor from the overdose, with his family witnessing the death in shock. It cuts to Pingu's funeral, complete with a photo of Pingu and all members of Pingu's known family crying, along with his friends, his teacher, and various other penguins. It then zooms onto Pingu in the coffin. It then says "Drogenmissbrauch Tötet" which roughly translates to "Drug abuse kills", and the PSA ends.

A year later, I found that the creator was a former Trickfilmstudio employee, who wanted to create his own cartoon, yet wasn't allowed to, so he left TFS to start his own company for the sole purpose of creating a movie that showed Pingu's death, in an attempt to flip the bird to TFS. However, a financial error caused the employee to go bankrupt, and the movie was turned into a PSA by an independent company. No YouTube videos exist due to copyright from HiT Entertainment.
