The Simpsons Bootleg VHS
I have been a Simpsons fan ever since I was 12 years old, I collected all the DVDs, figurines, toys, and VHS tapes. I am now 22 years old and don't really watch it anymore due to the awful modern new episodes. I thought that I would go on eBay to bring back my childhood memories by buying a Simpsons VHS tape. I changed a few options so it would show the cheapest ones since I didn't have much money at the time. I found a Tape for sale for one dollar! It seemed a big fishy as it was dirt cheap and the name of the VHS tape was just Simpsons. I decided to message the seller asking if it was a real tape or a bootleg. I got a reply 5 minutes later saying "I don't know, I got it off my Uncle". I didn't really care so I decided to buy it. About a week later it came in the mail but the packaging was really weird. It came in a normal box but inside where letters saying: "Do it". there were nearly 10 of these letters but I didn't think anything of it and decided to watch at night as I had to go to work for the day. When I got home, I got the VHS Tape and put it in my VCR. Also when I put it in it seemed really weird. It showed no commercials or any Copyright warnings. I thought it was a bootleg tape so I decided to watch it. However, It wasn't a normal Simpsons episode, The intro was really weird! The theme song sounded funny and the animation looked like it was made by a collage student. The intro wasn't normal, for example Bart wasn't writing the classic chalkboard gag, instead he was smashing the chalk into the chalkboard! At the part where Marge and Maggie are shopping, the counter lady was smearing Maggie's face into the scanning machine. When all of the characters were at the Simpsons house, the couch gag was nothing, Literally! The couch was there but the Simpsons were no where to be seen! When the episode started it was really Creepy, it started off with The Simpsons walking down the street. But the secondary characters where sitting down crying. This kept going for 3 minutes until the screen turned to black. I thought the tape was paused but seconds later The Simpsons where in there house hanging themselves! After that the credits played, the theme song didn't play, all you could here was crying. after that the tape ejected itself and I was sitting there shocked, scared. My childhood had been ruined! The next thing I decided to do was go to onto Ebay and message the seller. However, the seller's account had been deleted forever. To this day I keep the tape in my closet, never to be watched again.
